That the state can just come in and destroy happy families this way with no accountability is truly evil.

'Evil destruction' of a happy family

...Armed with pepper spray, they ransacked the house, looking for the nonexistent guns. The dogs, released from their kennels, also rampaged through the house. When Mr Smith and his wife, who was three months pregnant, volubly protested at what was happening, they were forcibly arrested in front of their screaming daughter Jenny, 5, and taken away.

Held for hours in a police cell, Mrs Smith had a miscarriage.
When she was finally set free, she returned home that evening to find her daughter gone. It was the beginning of a barely comprehensible nightmare.
Her husband was charged with various offences connected with the dogs but eventually given a conditional discharge by a judge.

Social workers seemed determined to hang on to the child, now in foster care, on the sole grounds that they had found the house dirty and in a mess. Two hundred horrified local residents, who knew the couple as doting parents of a happy child, were about to stage a protest demonstration when they were stopped by the police, on the social workers instructions that this might identify the child.

For more than two years the couple have been fighting through 74 hearings in the courts to win their daughter back.

One particularly bizarre psychiatric report was compiled after only an hour-long interview with the little girl. When she said she had once choked on a lollipop, this was interpreted as signifying that she could possibly have been forced to have oral sex with her father.

After the parents had been subjected to four different psychiatric investigations, which came up with mixed findings, they refused to submit to a fifth, and this apparently weighed heavily with the judge who ordered that Jenny should be put out to adoption.

When this judgment was reported, an independent social worker, who had earlier been an expert witness in the case, wrote to Mr and Mrs Smith to say he was horrified to learn that Jenny was not back in their care, having assumed for over a year that she must have been returned home.

Their equally horrified GP, saying that he had never encountered such a case of appalling injustice, wrote the destruction of this once happy family is in my opinion evil. So shocked was their MP, Mr Hendry, that he last Wednesday took the highly unusual course of raising the case at Prime Ministers Questions.

You really need to read the whole story of this insane, and yes, fascist, use of state power - at link.

Social workers are a vile species of thug. Always women or extreme beta-males with incredible axes to grind. If life has rendered you a complete monster, become a social worker.

Exactly. These are the kind of people who go to work for a government. The kind of evil vile creature that sees male sexual violence behind every rock.

Adoption. Incredible.

This was despite the testimony of a woman Pc (who had visited the house a month earlier on a different matter) that she found it clean and tidy. Social workers having the power to deny people the ability to peacefully assemble and protest seems beyond madness to me.

This entire situation seems beyond madness to me.

From the web address in the link, I gather this happened in England?

So this is what we will all look forward to with the New World Socialist Order?

yuk!

The people who did this need to be sued into oblivion, but I doubt that will happen.

Nice sentiment, but a big part of the problem (at least in the US) is that these social workers are immune from lawsuits. Perhaps if there were some accountability, there would be less of these horrific tragedies.

What I find even more bizzare is that they were banned from doing so because it might identify the child...but they already knew the identity of the child and the parents.

There really needs to be a check on social workers powers in specific and the state in general.

Wow... 'social worker' covers a lot of jobs, I am sure the majority help people and I'm sure a lot are driven to enter the profession by wanting to care.

So, the fascist animal rights lunies are followed by the fascist anti-gun loonies and then the fascist-socialist "social" workers to destroy a family, permanently scar a little girl, and murder an unborn baby.

Every government employee involved in the three raids this family suffered should be charged with the murder of the unborn child. They should all do a minimum sentence for this murder. (There should also be charges for what they did to the mother, father, and child.) State employees should not be allowed to hide behind the power the fascist-socialists have arrogated to themselves to escape punishment for these crimes.

Once again we can see that socialism always fails.
Socialism kills.
Socialism is evil and must be abolished in all its forms.
No rational, honorable person can read a story like this and still support the socialists.

Again, your definition of Socialism (and incidentally, your definition of failure) is one that almost no one in the world agrees with, so no, most rational, honorable people don't read this and think anything about Socialism at all. Rather, they read this and think "Social workers need both substantially less power and vulnerability to lawsuits in the United Kingdom."

In your proposed system, these people wouldn't even have been allowed to reproduce, because the added emissions their child would put into the atmosphere would technically be pollution, and thus a single property holder objecting would be sufficient to illegalize it. If you simply want to object to what took place in the United Kingdom in this case, I'm sure most of us are on your side, but when you start saying, "And the only answer is replacing their societal model with my Libertarian Utopia!" you're wrong.
