|
|
I am a little confused about the karoake places you get called noree bangs. I know you can get female company in them but I've heard different stories about what this means.
Some people have told me that you get girls to dance/sing with you and help you drink your beers, like a kind of cheap hostess bar. Other people have told me that you depending on what you pay these places can be nothing more than whorehouese, with the girls stripping/having sex . My boss says his wife doesn't care about him going there and I know it's not frowned upon for married men to go to these places so I suppose they can't be too shady right??
I've got one directly across from my apartment so I'm wondering if I should pop in and what to expect.
Anyone clear up this matter for me?

Noraebang= singing room.
The other kind is a "room salon", where if you ever taught adult students, is where 100% of men have been at some time or another and some regularly frequent.
The room salon comes with girls and can get pretty pricey, if you negotiate extras with the girl... most are fitted with a karaoke machine.
Noraebang are popular and I've been to a few, but I guess like most westerners am not too keen on them... very bizarre. |

nearly all singing rooms you can get girls.
the small, cheap noraebang have girls too.. just not on site.. they call them in.. maybe this is what a coffee girl does when the coffee scene is a bit quiet. there are 3 different quality noraebangs.. noraebang/room salon/ and the best 1.. i have been told their respective names in korean but i forget.. all have singing machines, it is their national past time.
apart from a flash, the only place i have really seen gals stripping is on tv... they behave well apart from the old grope here, a squeeze and a touch there, a close dance and beer drinking help.. if you want anything more you need to cash them up and go to a motel.
if it is a room salon the gals will come in straight away and it will cost you about 150 thou for 15 beers and the gal maybe. whiskey is about 150 thou a bottle, maybe more. time is up when you are out of drinks and you stop buying drinks.
if you go to the cheap noraebang, maybe 10,000 for an hour and 20-40 thou for the gal, 80% of the time you must ask for a girl and 50% of the time they have to get called in.. beer comes in plastic water containers and is expensive.. all costs are by the hour.
this all depends on the city you are in btw, prices and situations can be very different.
80% of the time i go out with my older crew of korean friends they like to go to a room salon.. and they seem offended if i don't want to go, like they are doing it for me or something.. i always tell my wife and she gets angry if i go with people she doesn't really like but if i go with like family friends she doesn't hit me too hard. all the wives know, it just isn't spoken about often..
go out and treat yourself pal, have fun.. don't expect a wild sex orgy in the singing room though. i spose if you have the cash it would be best to go to a room salon, there is no time limit.. your main mission would be to get girl to drink slowly.. some of them can pour it down, it is better for business obviously if they can sell more stuff or get you out faster. i'm glad some of them aren't coming to the drinking competition.
best off going with a friend, korean is good. nearly all of these girls have trouble with english so it is good to have a translator.
now that i have proven i am a naughty boy, i will go.
more than enough info.. noraebangs tend to be lower quality than room salons.. you should tell where you are as soon as you walk in. |

Oh dear, oh dear! :)
wylde, I would have never guessed you to be one to partake in such *base pleasures of the flesh* ! :)
Sounds like you have a merry old time. I didn't have the chance to hit any of those places (stupid friends and their morals) so I'm sorta kicking myself at lost opportunities.
I did have a good time in Japan though *wink wink nudge nudge*
Bulgogiboy, there's no obligation to ask for female company. A lot of the patronage at the *regular* places are groups of friends from highschool/university who just go in to belt a few songs as they wait for the first trains to run after a big night on the p*ss.
If you don't feel like paying for a girl to hold your bloody mic and shake the tambourine, then you don't really need to ask.
You'll get some funny looks if you go in on your own though (ahem). Go with someone Korean, as they'll know how to operate the machines and such.
Room salons are a whole new cup of tea (usually advertised as "business clubs" or "mi-in room clubs"), and I'll let the resident experts fill you in on those, since I have no idea on what goes on in those places.
Really! ;)

Squid, are you saying most foreigners don't like singing rooms? I don't agree with you at all on that one. |

I have been to a singing room but It was upstairs in a nightclub. Since the group was mostly Korean women, there was no offer/need of female company.
I can't say I liked that singing room much but once a few beers had been had it was good for a laugh(especially for people listening to me sing).
Room salons seem to be a f**king rip-off if you ask me. Definitely for expense accounts and not for ESL teachers(except maybe a one-off experience). My boss last year was always trying to get me to go to a room salon, of course I had to pay for myself so sod that.
I actually prefer the juicy bars in Itaewon because they are more open about what they offer. Again though, they are just far too much money for regular use by common trash like me.
Anybody seen stunning room salon girls before?

A room salon's success or failure depends on the quality of the women, and for the money you pay, you'd better expect some good quality. :)
You'll tend to find that the "water" is far better at room salons compared to the Itaewon bars. :D
As for YOU wylde, I thought what happens in one area code STAYS in that area code!
Hang on. Seoul and Sydney have the same area code. Erm.. :)

During my year in Korea Ihave never been to a Noraebang. I thought it was strictly karaoke. I had no idea this other stuff existed! I talked to other people who went to Noraebangs and they never mentioned anything about Korean chicks. I heard people use both No-rae-bangs and dvd bangs as cheap convienient places to have sex after leaving the bar.
I mean yes, I thought about going to a no-rae-bang, but I didn't want to go there alone. Plus, it wasn't really on the list of planned weekend activities.
Also, what are these room salons? They sound like scoring shacks. Are they located everywhere? I hope you aren't talking about those double poled places.
What is a "juicy bar"?
I can't believe i don't know about this! Perhaps it may be time to take a visit.

Noraebang spelled 노래방 are not allowed to serve alcohol and your not likely to have companionship. However Noraebba or noraejang etc are alcohol serving establishments and then all bets are off. |

You can always bring in your own booze, well (or even half-assedley) concealed and even your own girls. Good times

Depends on the girl. I've been to several straight-up noraebangs (none of this room salon crapola). They are fun, but only if you a.) are drunk beforehand or b.) smuggle in booze.
My Korean friends and I will wind down an evening at the noraebangs after drinking, but it's really just a way to make fun of each other and sing off the drunk so we can get some sleep when we go home. |
