There should be, but who on Earth is trustworthy to determine a potential parent's qualification (or lack thereof)? Social workers generally don't seem particularly trustworthy to me, and that's essentially what such judges would be: social workers who get to determine your fitness to be a parent before you ever have a child.

Reminds me of the quote from Woody Allen's 'Whatever works.'

"You need a license to run a hot dog stand, to fish, to drive a car, yet any inchworm can just bring a kid into the world...'

not an exact quote....

7. Wearing a cap or hat in class or at the table isn't polite. Call me square.

8. Chewing gum is a disgusting habit.

9. The pornographic movies should be in the main racks in the video store, and movies with graphic or brutal violence such as the Saw series should be behind the swinging doors. Neither is good, but the latter are more damaging to our society.

10. People in developing countries often have happier lives than first-world ones. They have lifelong friends, closer families, worry less, and laugh more. They do not have unattainable expectations of careers, spouses, and possessions. I'm not saying this is the rule, but often.

11. Figure skating is not a sport. It is a performance art. This does not make it unathletic or undemanding. It is simply not a sport and has no business at the Olympics.

Those are some great ones.

To add- I find movies like Saw and Hostel just flat out disturbing and I seriously wonder at people who want to go see them.

Caps and Gum are right down there with jeans and sneakers. And we wonder why 30 is the new 20.

Figure skating is my favorite Winter Olympic sport and I'm a dude. I find the 'grace' sports as enjoying, if not more so than Football or Hockey (although not baseball, because it is a 'grace' sport as well) Give me an equestrian, synchro, floor routine, figure skating event and the like anyday over an average (not big) game in any of the 4 major sports.

Roe vs. Wade is a Pro-Life decision. It protects women against forced-abortion like in China and 'privilege panels' like other posters support. Everyone supports 'population control' until they are the one nominated.

99% of all adopted/foster/single-parent/poor Children are grateful that they were brought to term. Hands off OUR bodies. We are the ones who should determine if our lives have value, it should be our decision whether or not the pain and effort necessary in raising us is worth it. Sadly, this truly is an unpopular opinion.

"One night, returning home, much intoxicated, from one of my haunts about town, I fancied that the cat avoided my presence. I seized him; when, in his fright at my violence, he inflicted a slight wound upon my hand with his teeth. The fury of a demon instantly possessed me. I knew myself no longer. My original soul seemed, at once, to take its flight from my body and a more than fiendish malevolence, gin-nurtured, thrilled every fibre of my frame. I took from my waistcoat-pocket a pen-knife, opened it, grasped the poor beast by the throat, and deliberately cut one of its eyes from the socket!"

9. Pornographic industry definitely needs more attention and further development, nowadays, our understanding to pornography is still miserably related with STD, crime, pervert, drugs, pedophilia, etc...

BTW, Being a women, I found most porns are very misleading, if you guys do everything porns teach you to in bed, you wont be a good lover.

10. I think this one is well recognized by many.

I think the problem with #9 (pornography) is related to #10 (unrealistic expectations). I've known guys so into porn that they began to prefer it to pursuing the real thing, and the real thing itself became incapable of matching up to Naughty Cheerleaders 8. I just think that situation is harmful but less dangerous than a torture video.

But I think the point of this thread is to be a grouch and spout off your opinion, not to defend it!

1. Madonna's music actually isn't so bad and will be respected in the future.

2. The Beatles are awesome, but their first albums aren't so hot. If they had all died in an airplane crash in '64 we would have forgotten them.

3. Bugs Bunny is far better than Mickey Mouse. What did Mickey Mouse ever say that was literary or ironic? "Hi, kids." What a wit.

4. Modern rock concerts are just way too freaking loud. Maybe if you didn't have those giant stacks the tickets wouldn't need to be a thousand dollars each.

5. Why do you think that getting plastered last night is worth bragging about? Do you think you deserve a medal?

1. The Onion is unspohisticated rubbish which repeats the same trick over and over again. Read it once and you've read every issue that will ever be issued.

It boggles my mind when I see young grads talking about how funny and cool it is.

2. Behind every imperialist nation's thrust of conquest is the epigentic desire of trancendental 'oneness' - for all humans to be united - even though that may well not have been the concious motivating factors in the minds of those involved.

The posts on birth control jogged my memory, on this old movie (1976) & book (1967):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logan's_Run

Basically, the population in a crowded, post apocolyptic world, is kept in check by State sponsored execution of anyone over the age of 30. "Currently, the remake is scheduled for a 2010 release date, and is being directed by Kosinski and produced by Silver Pictures".

1. Nah, The Onion is funny, to a lot of folks. Sounds to me like you've only read it once, and/or you're a bit of a pompous Brit when it comes to all things American. That's just my opinion of course.

Korean beef is among some of the worst beef I have ever eaten.

Soju and most Korean alcohol is for peasants, and anyone who drinks it regularily doesn't like themselves very much.

A majority of Korean food is very ghetto, and not very delicious at all. Ketchup, corn, mayonnaise and Thousand Ilsand on everything.

I'll bet somewhere around 500 million mothers have said those very words, but with more earnestness. Good to see you on Dave's again. It's been a while, though you may have been over in the CE forum.
