|
|
Wondering if someone can help me out. I scoured google but couldn't find anything.
I just installed Windows 7 64-bit (clean install) yesterday and downloaded/installed Windows Live. However, I cannot log into messenger for some reason. It says that the firewall is blocking it; the error code is 80072ee7.
I uninstalled/installed it again but it just won't log in. Funny thing was we had the same problem at work today (all computers couldn't log into messenger) so I'm hoping it wasn't an issue with my comp.
I'll try again when I get home but any suggestions or did anyone have the same problem?
Thanks in advance. |

6 unresolved pages of the same here.
May be something here? Though not specifically for Win7, scroll down for Vista...same thing.
A final solution seems to be:

...looks that Microsoft having problems with some servers which happened to host our unlucky IDs, try to register new name, and it will work with all same setting and application... |
Then...

I managed to solve the problem (at least temporarily) thanks to the technical support.
As I mentioned in the previous message, I changed the country, city/state, and postal code, saved the changes, and then signed into messenger. |

My windows 7 is working fine in that regard.
I am having troubles with having to refresh the desktop and/or folders once I save a file to them before they'll show up. |

Thanks guys. It's working now; looks like it was a problem with the messenger service.
On another note, I installed a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. The guy I got it from says that I don't need to activate it. However, it did ask for an activation code. When I click on Properties on Computer, it says that I have 30 days to activate it but it's been saying that for more than one day now.
Is it absolutely necessary and if so, where can I find a code?
Thanks again. |

Oh, that's funny... already a Windows 7 crack?
Is it an evaluation copy? |

No it's the full version. I just got it activated with an activation program so it's good to go now. Very similar to Vista (which I liked). |

Full hacked retail copies were available weeks ago. Win 7 was hacked a lot faster than Vista, but that could have been due to the huge beta testing program they did for 7. |

From the articles that I read, MS seems oblivious (albeit short of encouraging) to pirating. It looks like they just want as many people as possible to use it.
I was watching a biography on Bill Gates on the Biz Channel yesterday and they used the same strategy with earlier versions of Windows; sell it so cheap and 'allow'/turn a blind eye to rampant pirating as long as most of the computer-using population would have it on their desktops. |

Still having a few odd issues with SLEEP mode (not Hibernate) in Windows 7. When I came out of it today, every time I clicked on a link in Firefox or IE, it would open a new window. Every time... annoying! A reboot fixed the issue. |
