I'm currently finishing up my last semester of college (online classes) while currently in Korea. I'm going to have my degree in time for the fall semester, but my question is how do I go about applying for EPIK? I know you should apply several months in advance, but I'm concerned about the E-2 visa because I assume I couldn't get that until I have the actual degree in my hand, which my college might not print and mail out until July. Also, the fact that I'm in Korea already seems to be a bit of a problem. Where do I go to apply for the visa? The US embassy in Seoul? |

You can apply for an E-2 before you have your actual, 'sheepskin' if you have your university registrar send a 'Certificate of Graduation' listing your degree, to you here in Korea. Your employer will have to have this verified by the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE). When this is done and you are issued a Certificate of Visa Issuance (or Letter of Appointment if invited by the Ministry of Education), you can then do a 'visa run' to a third country (a U.S. embassy issues visas for the U.S., a Korean embassy issues visas for Korea ). |
