In Halifax we have Cannibis day celebrated on the same day as Canada day. Hundreds of people gathered in the commons and smoked. The cops would gather and make sure nobody got out of line, but made very few to no arrests. Bands would play and everyone had a great time. In recent years they've conveniently scheduled a family picnic event in the same place and told the Cannibis day people they had to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, now it's in the Dartmouth commons and attendance is down.

Ahhh, the glory days. I did enjoy taking part in the festivities, but I found the stoner crowd that it inevitably drew distasteful.

I remember going to smokefests in peoples park in Frisco the 1980's when the police just smiled and chatted with people.

Pretty true, although you should keep in mind the US isn't above having Canadians extradited for petty charges like selling and "conspiring to distribute" cannabis seeds, nor are we above handing out de facto life sentences for said petty charges (although the court's probably going to "go easy on him" and limit his stay to five years in a federal prison). I'd appreciate it if you guys could team up with Mexico and liberate our people from the DEA and their congressional puppets.

All these sanctimonious, melodramatic, self righteous, two faced hypocritesthese being cops, lawmakers, politicians, etc
I dont smoke/toke weed or any kind of drug, it isnt my thingbut it sure seems to me that we have far more alcohol related accidents, alcohol driving accidents, alcohol related murders, rapes when compared to those using weed! And true, we have more alcohol users when compared to weedhence, more related crimes; still.its the fault of YOU and me for voting for these boneheads we put into office! These same freaking people, cops, politicians, etcgo to church on Sundays, repent and talk about all the evils going on and come Sunday evening, these same knuckleheads are driving while drunk, visiting massage joints, cheating on their spouse or significant other, etcand the same people are toking on weed, coke, etc
What the f*^k is wrong with weedcan anyone tell me?

If you smoke a joint, rub your stomach, and pat your head, the brain damage reverses itself into brain growth. Or you can throw salt over your right shoulder. But if you really want to get factual, you can avoid brain damage from marijuana by saying, "Stony stoner," three times in front of a mirror with the lights off on Friday the 13th under a ladder while a black cat urinates on your shoes.

Yup it's funny how grass is illegal but there is a liquor store on every corner in Canada.

I've yet to meet a violent stoner.

So much for being "progressive".

I think you missed the point of the thread. Smoke a bit too much?

It is still illegal. And while the cops don't care much if you smoke it, they do care if you are dealing it - as opposed to alcohol.
