All the schools around us have closed and today the offices are overflowing with students getting the ear thermometer treatment between classes. Every tenth one or so, there's a fever. One of my co-teachers is out with it. Phone calls keep pouring in from parents reporting their students out because they've been diagnosed.
It's only a matter of time. Three day Halloween weekend? At least? |

I bet you don't teach at a highschool. We're out of luck on the time off, no matter how many of them get sick. |

My husband's school (elem.) sent half the students home for a week, the other half start tomorrow. My head teacher said that our school (middle) is the only one in our district that hasn't had been shut down or had massive class cancellations thus far. I teach in Jongno-gu. Has everyone else had some sort of shut down?
I wonder if it is because 3rd grade finals start after next week. |

not much has happened at my school (yet). there's been some re-ordering of when kids have lunch (due to one class been highly infected) and a new disinfectant spray installed in the lunchroom, and lots of face masks.
i'm in middle school too and i doubt any class cancellations or a school shutdown will occur so close to third year exams. |

My CT informed me at lunch that a decision is supposed to be made at a governmental level about closing down schools (he was referring to middle schools, because he said elementary closures are up to the principal). His understanding is that the decision will be based on the number of infected students. As my school has remained relatively unscathed, he believes we will continue having classes. I'll update if he tells me anything further...but then, I suspect we will all know then, anyway. |

I am guessing most of the cases are in the North/interior of the country? I'm in South Gyeongnam province and the weather is still warmish and sunny. My school has a handful of confirmed cases but I suspect most of the kids that are sick just have a cold.
So, where are most of the cases cropping up? |

I'm in the middle of Seoul and we haven't had problems yet.
But I know people in the far NE areas of Seoul who have quite a number of affected students. |

Incheon is having problems too, just north of Bupyeong. Many schools closing. |

Our HS has less than 10% off, 100 Ss.
The Principal informed in a chat today that Yongin was the worst affected district. |

Any hagwons closing down? I doubt it, but wondering....
My kindergarten classes were stopped, but they're staying open for the elementary hagwon classes.
They're only closing the kindy for 2 days though, yesterday and today (thurs and fri). |

No cases of the flu at my school of 500 students, which is located outside of Masan in a rural area. I suspect that the lack of cases here is due to the community's relative isolation from other towns and cities. |

I had a class yesterday where 18 of 35 students were out - but there is no talk about closing down. Good thing I eat lots of Kimchi. |
