My school is going under, fast. They're terminating my contract as of the end of December, and giving me a letter of release. They have offered to do their part to transfer my E-2 Visa to a new school. My contract will end on 12/23, and I'm going home for Christmas with a ticket back to Seoul on 1/3. Do I need to find a new job that starts when I come back in January? Or if I find a job that starts in February or March, can I still transfer my visa? I've been trolling Dave's but haven't been able to figure it out. A recruiter told me it would be easier if I switch to a public school, is this true? I would appreciate any advice, wisdom, or suggestions! Thank you! ~Marina |

If you go home for Christmas, then you cannot transfer your visa, since your contract ends on the 23rd. To transfer you visa, there cannot be a gap between when you end a job and when you start a job. So if your last day is on the 23rd, your new contract has to start on the 24th. So if you plan on going home for Christmas, you need to apply for a new visa. |
