| Anyone know if there is a number you can call for pickup - I'd rather not take a cab/subway to the hospital for obvious reasons. And do I need anything other then my ARC card (like my schools health care coverage plan/number) |

You can call an ambulance, 119, but where are you located? If you're in any of the larger places, there is probably a hospital or several within walking distance. Just put in a mask, or go to a nearby pharmacy, say ma-suh-kuh and they'll sell you one cheap and walk on over.
You can also get tamiflu over the counter now, as someone said in another post. Its 15,000W with coverage or around 35,000W without I believe.

| yeah don't really feel like walking 5km and I would need to go to the hospital to justify missing work. |

I don't know if the ambulance will pick you up, but if you put on a mask, unless you're coughing up a lung non-stop you're probably okay to make it to the hospital without infecting anyone. |

| H1N1 is not airborne it's only spread by fluid or droplets. As long as you don't get saliva or mucus on somebody you're ok. |

Umm...k...while that is remotely accurate, you're comment is pretty misleading. Droplet precautions means if anyone coughs/sneezes within 6 feet, you are considered at risk. They don't have to spew snot directly in your face, droplets float on the wind just fine and you are at risk to breathe them in if you are close enough. Also, if those droplets land on a hand rail, on a seat, anything, and then you touch them and then your face, eyes, nose, there is a high risk of infection. That's why it's always a good idea to wash your hands regularly.
Moral of the story, if you are sick, for the love wear a mask. |

Are people wearing masks back in the States or Europe? Anyone been over there recently?
I always thought it was sort of stupid that people were running around in masks when I first got in Asia. I still think so, for better or worse, and wondering how things are back home. |

I don't know about back home, but with the way I've seen so many people hear cough and sneeze without covering their mouths, I'd say the mask thing isn't too bad of an idea. No kidding H1N1 is spreading like crazy. How many million people ride the Seoul Metro everyday, and sneeze all over the place. Let's not get into the sharing of food.
I understand this is a cultural difference, but how can you not expect H1N1 to spread like crazy here? |

I don't know how true this is, but my colleague told me that there is a fee of around 150,000 won to test for the flu, and if it is positive, they give you some money back.
I guess it's to to deter people from being overly-cautious. |
