I have a job offer that I may take but I need some advice.
The chain of schools I'm potentially going to work for in Korea are opening their latest chain in the elementary sector. I recently asked my recruiter to talk to a teacher who has worked with this company but she said since it's new they don't have anyone to speak with.
Do I want to be the first round of teachers going into this newest sector? |

Tough choice. A year ago you could have been more choosy, but nowadays you have to take what you can get. My own experience would dictate NO, not in a million years would I ever put myself through that hagwon crap again.
However if you need money asap, than perhaps you should see. |

Is the chain entirely new or just now beginning to offer elementary classes? I think that would make a difference. I would be very wary of working for a brand new school. If the school is already in business and opening an elementary branch now, I would still ask to speak to current or former teachers. They should still be able to give you insight into the management of the school and the treatment of teachers even if the elementary branch is new. I personally wouldn't take a job if I was refused contact information for current or former teachers. Not sure if this was much help, but good luck with your decision! |
