I installed Windows 7 on my computer last night. The installation went fine, but for some reason the icons look huge compared to XP at the same resolution, both were set at 1280x1024. I tried to increase the resolution, but the highest it would let me go up to is 1600x something. None of them fit the screen correctly. My monitor is supposed to support 1920x1200, but I can select this resolution. So does anyone know how I can fix this? Anyhelp would be appreciated.

My monitor is the Topsync 2403HTV and my video card is the Asus Geforce 9600 GT. I stalled the new nVidia driver when I installed windows. However, there was no driver to install for the monitor. Is this the problem?

Also, like an idiot, I didn't back up my apps on my iTunes before installing. Now I don't have any of the apps I purchased on iTunes. Supposedly, you can redownload apps for free. You just go to purchase them and it will say that they was already purchased. You just have to sign in and authorize the computer. I tried this on a free app and it just downloaded it, nothing about it being one I already purchased. I don't want to try with a paid app and end up paying for something I already paid for. Does it only say the apps were already purchased for apps that cost money, or all apps?

I installed the topsync driver but it still doesn't work. I looked around and came upon the "List all modes" button under the advanced settings for the resolution. The max resolution that it lists is 1600x1200. According to nvidia, the max resolution for the 9600 GT is 2560x1600. So am I missing something, or should this be working.

Are you talking about the launch bar icons in the lower left corner? They are larger in Windows 7.

I was talking about the desktop icons.

Does the 9600 GT support 1920x1200 or do I need to get a new card?

Hey dude.

If your 100% sure that the drivers are installed correctly then (as far as I can remember, I don't have a nVidia card) you can add custom resolutions within nVidia control panel.

If you can't, theres a lot of 3rd party software out there which allows you to add your own custom resolutions.

Download one of them, add your 1920x1080 or x1200 res and ta-dah!

Also, after the custom resolution has been set, you can uninstall any 3rd party software you added since it's now set in the registry.

Goodluck!

Here is the driver for your monitor. Click the top link: "TOPSYNC 16대10,16대9,4대3 TOTAL DRIVER SEP 2009.zip" Save it (add .zip" to the saved file; it has no extension when you save it), unzip and use the "device manager" to install (be sure to select the correct folder; there are many in the unzipped file. Your would be the "24 inch Wide" I suppose). Yes, it will make a difference. It tells Windows and the graphics driver specific info about your monitor...stuff like supported resolutions.

Now, I am not calling you an idiot, but did you check the icon size setting on the desktop? Right click and hover on the "view" popout menu. If you have "Large Icons" selected, they will indeed look large.
