I've been in Korea for over a year and being single has been tough. I don't usually do club scenes but I've decided to do the single thing and go to a club in Kangnam to check it out. I guess I felt the need to "market" myself or at least to test the waters to what kind of people are out there.
I'm in my 30's and so are my friends (who are Korean) so we're looking for a club that's suitable for us....not looking to relive the college scene but where single Korean men in their late 20's and 30's hang out.
Any suggestion would be appreciated! If I can have the name of the club and location would be nice. We're looking to go out this Friday!

Well last time I went to NB (Noise Basement) I ended up getting danced on by more guys than I prefer to reveal... perhaps a reasonable place to start?
Maybe it's just my interpretation but I always got the vibe that Gangnam was a Koreans looking for Koreans scene. The non-college, "international" meat-market thing has always been Itaewon. |

If you want to find out "what kind of people are out there" and not "relive the college scene," you probably are not looking for any place in Kangnam. I just moved to Kangnam recently and have yet to find any place worth going. If you go to NB or that other club near it, there are sure to be some foreigners there. It will also be far too loud and crowded to do anything but dance and drink expensive drinks. If, however, when you said you wanted to see "what kind of people are out there," you meant "find out absolutely nothing about anybody because it's too loud to talk to them and compete with countless others for a chance to go home with someone based on appearance alone," then the Kangnam clubs are probably for you.
I'm not a big fan of Itaewon, but you do have a much better chance of meeting someone there. That's where I met my girlfriend of almost a year now, so it does happen. |

I'm a Korean American (gyopo) who's never dated a Korean guy and my friends are Korean nationals who are looking to meet some nice men! They speak English well so we're open to meeting.....just wanted to meet some quality men and not for one night stand either.
Do you recommend Itaewon? If so, what club? What do people wear to clubs? I know what we wear back home but are they the same here?
We are all Korean so we are looking to meet Korean men so which club is best to go? |

I find it hard to believe that your female Korean friends don't know the answer to this.
In all seriousness, it sounds like a booking club is the place to go. You want to chat, you're not looking for a one-night stand, and you want to meet Koreans, try Club i under the Hotel Riviera in Cheongdam - drink for free all night, meet a wide variety of men, dance if you like, and avoid getting groped on the dancefloor like you will at NB. |

Any clubs with more of a YooHokSang crowd and less Kyopo? As someone who got along well with YooHoks back in the states, but not so much with Kyopos, I'd like to visit clubs that reflect that. |

| I think most Korean men in this demographic bracket - and I think some of the posters in this thread are being far too specific, are past the Gangnam clubbing phase, assuming they even had one. I am a guy but I can tell you that many of my Korean friends in their late twenties would occasionally go to booking clubs but generally they went for the restaurant - bar - home scene. |

Thanks everyone for all your feedback!
Bottom line is...where does a good gal like me meet another good guy? I can't meet them at church, clubs, or at work, where do I meet them? My life style does not allow me to meet Korean people....and certainly not Korean men!
Yeah, I heard about the night club scene...that one night stands are very popular! I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has any!  |
