Really. If I'm out around town and I see a family with kids aged, say, 4-10 years old, I give them a wide birth.

Why Because the kids piss me right off! Why?

* they totter around on their little legs as if they're drunk. You can be sure that whatever evasive action I take they will end up tangled in my legs somehow.

*With their underdeveloped legs and stupid brains they need to lose a few points here.

* Cold drinks are good for you - Chinese doctors are wrong!

I love Chinese food, but it must be spicy

I forgot to say: you can't walk freely because there is ALWAYS SOMEONE IN THE WAY. A NYC Hotdog is probably better, but I put in London for a different take on foreign countries

I hate tripping over toddlers when I'm drunk too.

It doesn't make you a bad person. Just don't have kids.

Also, don't hang out or buy a house near playgrounds, parks, amusement parks, malls, McDonalds (and other restaurants that cater to families), schools.
If you can do all of that and then you will be home free.

Problem solved.

I hear the OP. I have an energy limit with children, two hours and I start to faze, shorter with the younger ones (like 10 minutes).

I certainly don't hate them though, but sometimes I resent having to control a class of them with little/no help and sometimes I get angry.

And beat them with my stillettos.

I thought I loved kids... until I became a teacher. Some of them I look forward to seeing my classes. But there are those "others".

Kids are OK as long as they're nowhere near me.

Yeah I'm not sure what this old crap about being a woman and having a natural motherly instinct is all about either...I guess I have a strong desire to care for animals but kids YUK! The sad thing is that most kids really like me and it makes me feel so awkward cause the feeling's not mutual! Twisted Evil (P.S. I've never taught kids so no need to worry about the little critters.)

Hello, WoBW!

No, you're not a bad person.
It's just that one person can't be all-knowing and all-wise.
I like kids but can't stand teenagers.
I've lost count of how many hagweon jobs I've lost because I couldn't handle the middle school students.

Hello, NightSky!

All right, so the word should have been spelled "berth" instead of "birth."
Very funny.

Hello, tfunk!

I have to teach a combined first and second grade class with an adult who doesn't have much training and experience and isn't much help.
So I know what you mean.

Hello, Bloopity Bloop!

I had a friend in college who did one day of student teaching and discovered he wasn't cut out for it.
Fortunately for him, his counsellor was able to make a schedule for him that would get him a degree in just that one semester.
Other mismatched teachers aren't so lucky.

Hello, Princess Soraya!

Desmond Morris might say that you have more maternal drive than you are consciously aware of.
He argues that most domestic dogs and cats are comparable in size to babies, so they serve as surrogate babies.

I am uninterested in babies. Kids don't bother me at all, but babies do. Nothing but little screaming secreters. People think I'm so rotten when I say that I don't want to raise a child for the first two years, but it's not because I hate kids. I just don't get excited about babies and they make me a little uncomfortable!
