Is it ok to teach "YMCA"? I really think I'm going to do it tomorrow. The music is upbeat, the chorus is catchy, and there's a fun dance to go with it that helps you remember the alphabet...
I have a class tomorrow with lively and fun low-level middle shool third graders, and I think they'll love the song... I think the guys will think the dudes in the video are manly, but the girls will probably say "not handsome" because they aren't girly boys... |

I was just showing some people my voicethreads. On a lark, I made one with songs but to my surprise got lots of responses. This one girl on YMCA sang accapella and it is just amazing... http://voicethread.com/share/102304/
Pretty neat tool. Teachers can make their own and students can sing/speak. Here's the whole pile of my own with a lot of examples for making educational voicethreads. http://voicethread.com/#u3968
But that song works well and teaches a lot of the deep rhythm of English.
