Sorry to go off topic, I'm interested in studying NE Asian Political Economics and/or Security Studies. Are there any good programs like this in Japan/Korea/China? PM me if you'd like I won't clog up this thread. I wouldn't mind meeting up just to listen to what you guys are studying. I don't really know anything about what it would entail just yet. |
There are quite a few universities in Korea that offer international relations/IPE courses, at the undergrad and postgrad level. I don't know if they are all in English, but most seem to have some. There are links to two uni's down below, also check out Seoul National University. I don't know if they have specific degrees for NE Asian, but from what I've seen they focus on the Asian region.

I'm very interested in doing my MA in International Relations... Besides the UoL External, does anyone know of any other programs that offer MAs in IR through distance learning/ online courses? I appreciate anyones input on the subject. Thanks! |
Yes, I'll create a list and PM you later. |
I'm not familar with the UK system or how much they enforce the "related field" requirement. My degree from a U.S. university is in Finance. Any thoughts on if I'll have a difficult time getting into a IR program? Thanks for your help! |
I had a degree in history and was accepted to do an IS Ma at a red brick uni in the UK. They tend to be more needy for students in the IR/IS field and the acceptance requirements are usually a little easier than in-demand subjects, but that is just from my personal experience at one institution. Also they make more money from international students so they tend to be even easier with regard to them (but they would never admit it.) |

Has there been any more info for a meet up? I got a BA in IR last year- am considering applying for grad schools, but haven't decided if that's the course I want to take. I would love to meet with other people interested in IR =) |

Random note of interest: I go to school in the same building as the GSIS of Yonsei University (good program, from what I've heard. Very good professors in my lowly, undergrad opinion) so if you want me to put some fliers up on the bulletin boards of both UIC and GSIS (An international college and the grad school) I'd be willing to post em up for you. Just email me the ad (some basic info and a method of contact).
I wouldn't mind joining but I probably have far too little knowledge in the general area to contribute much. |

I'd happy to join informal discussion once or twice a month--I've dragged this degree out so long I could use a refresher on some stuff. Plus, I studied IR in the US but did a semester in the UK, and I found the differences in approach and focus interesting. It would be cool to hear more about the U of London program(me). |
