I watch a lot of movies, and I'm kind of sick of the small laptop screen.

How complicated/expensive is it to play my laptop screen on my TV? I've heard I just need a cord... do all TVs accommodate this? How expensive is it, and where can I get one??

depends on the tv and laptop.

Does your laptop have s-video or hdmi? What is the model number

Does your tv have s-video, component, RCA, hdmi? how old is the TV LCD/plasma?

If you don't know google the terms first and maybe people can help

Assuming you have a newer tv, most HDTV have a VGA port, simply buy a male-to-male VGA cable and hook it up to the TV and laptop. For the audio, either use the built-in speakers or a sound system.

I write the movie onto a read/write DVD and play it on my DVD player.

The solutions above are certainly better, if you have a new laptop and new tv.

What I really don't understand is why some people think Google is the answer to any question ever asked.

OP, if your laptop and TV both have matching plugs (VGA and VGA or whatever), just connect them with a cable, open your video options and select the external monitor. It's really quite easy.

Typing "connecting laptop to TV" comes up with 130,000,000 hits. The op could have found out that we need to know what connections the laptop and tv have before we could tell here where to buy the correct cable. we don't even know if she has a windows or mac machine. Every lap top is different, some are nice and easy, others are a pain in the neck
