yellow is usually the video, and red/white are usually the audio (left/right channel). |

How big is your TV?
I've been surprised by how pathetic the connections are on all but the really big, more expensive TVs. Even 19 inch TVs had only the usual antenna in plus a video and audio in -- not even stereo audio in. So what's the use bothering to get a TV to hook up to a DVD player if you're going to have a lousy picture? I just stuck with my laptop.
Most TVs back in the States have a variety of inputs: SVHS for starters, plus component color, etc. And even the dirt cheap DVD players have multiple outputs. And therein may lie you trouble. You may need to tell the DVD player which output you are using. And if it's like my piece of junk DVD player, it may go back to the default whenever it feels like it, so you may have to set it again. If it is in Korean, you need to find the English menu or get help.
Oh, and your DVD player will have a stereo out, but your TV has a mono in. So you can get a Y jack to mix the signals, if you can find one here. |

If I had a crap TY with only mono in I'd forget the audio and just use the computer's speakers. Actually, that's what I do with my HDTV, too. No sense going to the
tv sperakers anyway - they aren't very good. |

The speakers Korean TVs use are complete rubbish. They play background noise eg explosions, car chases, general noise. But the people talking is always droney and muddy sounding, so you have to turn it right up for movies. Even the 50' LCDs in the classrooms are the same. |
