Thousands are Sailing is up there, so is Turkish Sing of the Damned.
(Actually, quick funny story about T.S.O.T.D.....When I was about 8 I was in Irish dancing class (way before Micheal 'My Legs are Worth 50 Million Or Something Equally Obscene' Flatley became popular) and as part of our grading we had to choose a song and create 60 seconds of our own choreography.....my Dad, ever supportive, played me some Pogues, and I was hooked at the tender age of 8. (I also learned my first swear words from 'Bottle of Smoke'....my Dad rocks, BTW.) I chose Turkish Song of the Damned, did my little dance, and nearly faced expulsion from my dance school. Yay for non-conformists! Ironically, the one non-local judge gave me top marks.
Anyway, back to songs.....I also love Streets of Sorrow/Birmingham Six. Of course, Fairytale of New York is awesome, but I suppose not technically the Pogues....
I bet you weren't expecting this long an answer, were you? Sorry! :) |
