I was wondering if anyone else was told in their EPIK interview that they had to pay their own way to Korea but would be reimbursed(flat rate) upon arrival?

How long did it take to get your reimbursement?

Reimbursement varies by school. I got here last February. Some of us had our money in a week or two, some took a month or two.

3 weeks. Everything has to be negotiated on a local level; not automatic from the top who puts out the contracts. They do need a top to handle the financial matters for NETS or at least a competent handler of business matters regarding NETS for each province. It will require your inner personal skills you never knew you had and will develop them as well. Communication and keeping them to the agreed upon plans is often the challenge more so than teaching is. People can and will often forget they made a promise the other day that you would be paid yesterday requiring you to address the awkwardness of reminding them to pay you. Best spoken to the one (ir)responsible accountant in privacy. It's a passive culture where nothing happens until you make it happen to the end of each of many unexpected situations you will encounter and finally the end of the job where money matters seem to always get hairy. Talking to others not in charge of your situation such as me helps so very little though we can share our experiences and knowledge on here.

When I was interviewed for EPIK she made it very clear that I understood that EPIK did not do airfare reinburstment, and that instead they gave you an Entrance/Settlement Allowance which will be about 1000 dollars in USD once we arrive, which will be used as the airfare reinburstment.
