Thunderbolt of lightning, very very frightening! =D

Every time I hear thunder, I think it's a nuke. I think of that scene in Terminator 2 where Sarah Conner is at the playground and there is a nuclear blast in the city and everyone and everything is wiped away in a matter of seconds.

Never understood how people are afraid of thunder. It's right up there on my puzzlement list of people being afraid of pigeons.

Does anyone actually know WHY IT THUNDERS SO RARELY HERE?

I'm from the plains of Texas, and every time it rained in the summer, we got massive thunderstorms and lightning. I loved it, and I miss it.

Here, it seems like there's a big single clasp of thunder once a year!

I think the main reason is that you come from the thunder storm capital of the world. So pretty much anywhere you went would have less thunder. I don't know that much about the US, but isn't it something about the rocky mountains making a valley in the middle of the US where the cold air comes down and clashes with the hot air. As you might have noticed Korea is a peninsula with a quite different geographic.
