My router for some reason went on the fritz so I simply unplugged my internet connection directly into my Xbox, and since then I've had nothing but trouble. It says "there is an update available, do you want to update?" and when I say yes it says I disconnected from Xbox live (meaning I had been connected) but then immediately says "Update failed". I go to system settings and do the network test, get a green line from the internet to the xbox, etc. and then it tries to download the damn update again but the SAME thing keeps happening. It's VERY frustrating as I WANT to play online but CAN'T. I have a U.S. Xbox that is NOT modded so that's pissing me off even more.

If anyone has any advice that would help get me connected I'd be eternally grateful.

You may have something wrong with the operating system. I'm not a pro at this, but here's my suggestion:

I guess I'll try this, though I don't want to lose my saved game progress for Batman, which would really suck. I tried putting a USB stick in and saving my game but the USB stick wasn't recognized.

Im having the same problem with my korean xbox!

I went onto the korean xbox site and it said something about slower downloads currently in korea so maybe that is the problem.

Plus i have plenty of memory. It's a new console.

My Korean xbox360 downloaded the latest update w. no probs. Its connected via ethernet cable from my router, didnt do any port forwarding or anything either. :shrug:
