The Queen (that's me in case you had any doubts) is seeking crystal kitty litter and will bestow blessings upon you for any assistance. Does anybody know where I can find it please? The type at Homeplus and Vet shops is just so elementary and impractical. Anyone who has used the crystal type will know that it only needs to be changed once a month (but obviously requires daily scooping).
PLEASE assist the queen. It is your duty!

Don't quote me on the name of the brand, but Costco at Sangbon had some scoopable stuff recently. It was a larger container, at that. If you could snag someone with a Costco membership, it might be worth checking out -- near the back of the ground floor.

There's lots of silica gel kitty litter on gmarket:

Search for 크리스탈 샌드

This is definitely superior to the clumping litter. Just make sure you only put about an inch in (experiment). If it is too deep, it doesn't dry out. And stir it some. But the silica gel is not perfect. It is a pain if your cat has diarrhea.

I had to leave my cat alone for awhile, so I put out both silica gel and clumping litter. She quickly figured out the silica gel was better for urinating, and the clumping litter was better for defecating, cause she could bury it easier. Pretty smart cat. You might try it.

BTW, I see some ads for Purina Cat Chow on these pages. I bought some, and let me tell you, it's not the same Cat Chow as in the States. It is made in Australia for the Korean market, and it has only a vague listing of ingredients, with salt as the third ingredient, as I recall. That's nuts.

tzechuk: it's called Magic Clean (Vital Kraft). It was on special for 9900 Won but the regular price is 12500 if I remember correctly.

The crystals are brilliant. It's the only type I use as you only need to change it on a monthly basis. They don't clump: it changes color so you know which parts to remove. I love it! (Back home I use the scented type but I'm just grateful they have it here.)

Gee thanks Gatsby! The Gmarket 15kg bag looks like a great deal!!!
Re the Purina Chow: I'm rather skittish about the pet food products in general here, so I play it safe and limit my baby's variety.

Thanks for the info.

My cat eats cat chow... actually all of my cats have eaten cat chows and none of them has ever had any problem. I had a cat that would only eat chows and nothing else..

Yeah, it's hard to figure out the cat food here. Even the well known Western brands like Whiskas are formulated differently, with lots and lots of fish and tuna. And I see online stores selling junk cat food brands that were the cheapest in the supermarket (as well as more expensive brands that my cat wouldn't touch) as premium brands here.

Here's a good brand you can find at HomePlus: U.S. Grain's Regal Cat Bites Cat food - Turkey and Rice. 1.5 kg for about 12kw.

Ingredients: Chicken meal, turkey meal, brown rice, corn, corn gluten meal, chicken fat, fish meal, oat meal, eggs, brewers yeast, skim milk, vitamins, minerals, salt, amino acids, yucca extract. And then it lists all the vitamins added.

Note that there is no wheat. Adding brewers yeast is a clue they know what they are doing, unlike the Korean stuff. Cats love brewers yeast.

This is a good brand, if you want something cheaper:

But there is more corn, so it might cause an indoor cat to gain weight.

Tzechuk:

I used to use Purina Cat Chow back home sometimes. I even used it here. But the stuff they are selling now is not the same. It's not the same shape, it's not the same ingredients (they don't even say what, exactly, the ingredients are!!!). It's so bad, it's scary. You don't put that much salt in cat food ... unless that's the only way you can get the cat to eat it??? BTW, Are you referring to Purina Cat Chow? Or are you using "cat chows" generically?
