He sat next to her and the two of them appeared to be getting along very well. She was very receptive, flirtatious, really giving the old fool the come-on with her "let's have the best sex in the Universe"-look. I was a little jealous, actually, as I regretted not striking up a conversation earlier in the day. Once I realized she was a Thai, I simply couldn't have cared less.

There's no doubt in my mind that he paid her for sex later on.

Then you don't know the Thais. Have you spent any length of time around typical Thais? She was having "sannuk" with him; he doesn't have a chance to get to first base, she was just having fun. Thai girls are NOT easy. Maybe the Internet meetups and bargirls are, but the majority of Thai girls are known to be very friendly and easy to date, but NOT to get into bed.

Cool that the old guy was giving it a go. How else is he supposed to get some action. It not like 70 year olds get hit on as they walk down the street.

I'm not passing judgement on prostitution. What others do with their bodies is none of my business. But, even the Thais who aren't prostitutes are prostitutes, and men who sing the praises of Thailand are of automatically dubious character.

There are some men who go to places like THailand and the Philippines because due to the cultural constraints of their own societies being removed, it's much easier to land a GF. I was in a similar situation when I came to Asia 4 years ago. I was 35, divorced and had lost everything I had. There weren't many prospects back home. All the women who were my age, who were anything to look at were taken, then rest I didn't want. And the younger girls weren't interested in a guy 10 years their senior in my situation. When I met my current wife she wasn't interested in the fact I owned a rebuilt Jeep instead of a Hummer. She hadn't been brought up with unrealistic expectations or nurtured with an entitlement attitude. It's not always about prostitution. By the way I met my wife while in Korea,

Hmmm, this kinda differs from my experience. Not saying "easy", I guess that sounds rude, but it wasn't that hard either to attract someone for a night or two. This was years ago. Girls not wanting money, just a bit of fun. Some are proud like that. I suppose I was easy. But we never call guys easy, do we?

Wow. Just wow.

Sounds to me like the Thai lady was having a conversation with the old guy. Perhaps she was practicing her English. Perhaps she was trying to pass the time. Perhaps she was trying to avoid the creepy guy who was staring jealously at her.

Just because she was talking to the guy doesn't mean she's going to have sex with him for money. Where do you get off making assumptions like that? Talking about dubious character. . .

Any Thai girl who has the means to travel independently to Israel - of all places - is highly unlikely to be a prostitute in any way, shape or form.

Get over yourself. Rolling Eyes

I knew a couple of K teachers, foreigners, who had lived in Thailand teaching English and they had lots to say about foreign men getting duped and ripped off by Thai women. That a considerable number of them were extremely motivated and adept at drawing foreign men in to do favours for them and for their family (living in the country, poor). And, finally, the rug gets pulled and the foreign guy is left with no Thai girl who was all sweetness and light, and a lot less money. The foreigners seemed to have heard and seen alot of this kind of thing. Lonely, aging foreign men walk right into this 'land of smiles' kind of deal and end up a lot worse for wear when it's all over.

One of these Foreign K teachers said, also, that he never had a Thai male friend the whole time he was in Thailand ( he was there about two or three years). The implication being, I guess, that the disparity of wealth between foreigners and Thais is too great not to foster resentment on the part of Thais.

Listening to the opinions of these two K teaching foreigners for what these opinions are worth. They seemed very saavy people socially.

Most foreign guys I knew while living in Thailand were pretty srteet smart with the Thai gals. They knew when enough was enough and it's time to move on. Getting a new Thai GF is as easy as going to Siam Paragon. It's not like Korea. Most of the guys I knew who were married to Thai women married in the middle class so the family weren't gold digging. Get a poor woman and its just par for the course in any culture. As far as thai men friends go, you can have plenty of Thai men friends but you have to take part in activities that other Thai men are doing, such as rock climbing, fishing, etc... to break the ice. Having a western friend isn't a novelty in Thailand like it is in korea but it's hardly a product of class disparity or resentment.
