So I just moved to Paju about a month ago and am wondering if there are any foreigners here. I'm living in Geumchon and teaching in Geumneung. Does anyone know of anything going on here? It seems rather quiet. I've tried the facebook group with no response.

Geumchon has its own metro rail link to Seoul Station, with available transfers to Ilsan, and the train (line 6) which serves Itaewon. You are also close to Imjinggak and the DMZ. Very "country" compared to Ilsan but not nearly as rural as some other parts of Gyeonggi.

Yeah. I suppose you know where Gumcheon rotary is, right? It's basically in the middle of town. You'll see an Wooribank and LG store there. If you look up, you see a bar on the top floor of one of the buildings with outside seating. I've been told that a number of foreigners hang out there on Wednesday evenings. Since I'm not allowed to drink anymore, I can't go and check it out.

The railway station for Ilsan, on line 12 from Geumcheon to Seoul, is in a crappy part of eastern Ilsan. The transfer bus numbers were 11 & 22, from memory, to get to the Lakeside / La Festa part of west Ilsan, which is great. The Seoul subway station in the 'good' part of Ilsan, is Jeongbalsan on line 3.

Actually, no. It's line 3 for La Festa / Jeongbalsan, & line 12 for Geumcheon / Munsan.

Catching the blue bus #150 from Gumcheon station will take you to Jeongbalsan station. The blue 900 will take you as far as Juyeob station and you have to take the subway three stops from there to Jeongbalsan. Plus the 900 is about 15-20 minutes faster.
If you are leaving Ilsan late at night, it would be better to catch the 900. It turns around right after Juyoeb station and if you walk from Juyeob station up the street, towards the next major intersection, and wait at that bus stop, it will be the first stop on the way back to Gumcheon, so it is a 95% chance you can nab a seat.

^ Interactive map of line 12 from Seoul Stn to Munsan. Note that it is not part of the Seoul Subway network, per se. RW, are you certain the red 32 bus is now white? Seems odd that they'd change their color scheme. They also had a less frequent white bus #30. With a green stripe, from memory? Maybe that's where the possible confusion is? If you want to transfer to line 6 for Itaewon, then you have to detrain line 12 at Daegok for line 3, then Yeonsinnae for line 6. Or continue on to DMS (Digital Media Station) & transfer direct to line 6 there.

I take it you also have a view of those room salons around Costco? The girls usually arrive around 4-5pm.
