I have heard various rumours about the quality of life and the packages involved with teaching on the base in Yongsan.

Can anyone verify whether these rumours are true or not?

I have heard that it is a sweey deal beyond all belief.

Try and be more vague, I'm practicing my mind reading skills. Teaching on Youngsan?? Where? DODDS? Central Texas College, University of Maryland? A Master's degree is needed for the Universities. For the public school system, a Bachelor's AND a teaching certificate or MA and teaching certificate. The Bachelor's can get one into the substitute teacher program and open doors for full time employment. It's best to get hired for the position from the U.S. for an overseas position; you'll get moving expenses, etc. If you're hired in country, you get nothing. The university positions are part time but both the DODDS (public school) and the university offer an I.D. card, ration control plate and few other things which I won't get in to.
Phoney/phony wannbe teachers need not apply; a background check is done and ALL of your dirty laundry will be found including phony degrees.
Your best bet is to CALL the school. Very simple to do. The base operator can give you the numbes: 02-7913-1113.

Duh. They have university branches on the base, and offer certain classes per semester, university of Pheonix is one.

I've heard about it. You'd be working for the U.S. goverment in a civil service job. I had the website to apply at one time and yeah, you'd hafta do a background check. Nice benefits including housing, insurance, etc.

Other than DODDS, the other colleges are extensions of Central Texas College, offering assosciates degrees, University of Maryland, and Oklahoma University. Most compounds have CTC an UM giving classes every semester, and many of the instructors are Military or spouses. Just follow some links
