|
|
I know the average wait time once your application is submitted to immigration is 7-10 days. I'm guessing that means business days (weekdays). My application was submitted on Oct. 29th, and I still have yet to hear from my recruiter regarding my issuance number. This Thursday will be 2 weeks.
Should I be concerned? If not, when should I start to be? What could possibly be delaying my application?
What is the longest amount of time you have had to wait for you visa issuance number? |

My documents arrived in Korea on November 2nd. So it's been a week for me, still no sign. Hoping to hear something soon.
Did your docs arrive on the 29th or did you mail them on the 29th? |

My documents arrived on the 29th and my recruiter sent them to my employer, who in turn sent them to immigration.
I just hope that my papers weren't sitting on my employer's desk for a few days before they were sent to immigration.
Let me know if you hear back, and I will do the same. |

My documents were submitted not Wednesday past but the Wednesday before. I received my issuance number on Friday. Might be worth chasing up, OP. |

The recruiter or the school may be sitting on your paperwork. Possibly for no reason at all. My first school sat on my paperwork for 2 weeks before my scheduled flight to Korea, and then 3 more weeks after I landed. The whole time they were telling me that they had already given the documents to immigration. I found out the truth from a Korean teacher that I had become chummy with.
My current school sat on my paperwork for two days after I gave it to them. simply because the guy that does the immigration work was too tired to go to the immigration office. |

This blogger mentions something like that here: http://recruiterinkorea.wordpress.com/2009/11/10/visa-codes-taking-a-long-time/. Be weary. |

MH...what do you mean by chasing up? The only person I am in contact with is my recruiter. The only time I've spoke with my employer, who may have sat on the documents for a couple days, was for my interview. Is there any way to find out when the documents were submitted to immigration? |

Just send a friendly email to your recruiter asking if they have had any luck in getting your Visa number. Let them know that you were expecting it a bit sooner than this and then see what they say.
P.S If you have already tried this then I apologise. |

As above. Try and get an email address for someone at the school to contact them directly as well. |

It could be the employer does not want you here until a current employee's contract expires in a couple of months.
I could be the employer is waiting to find out if a current employee will renew or not... and is keeping you 'in reserve' in case they don't.
I could be the employer is 'collecting' a multitude of applicants for the position and will pick among them (based on objective consederation of qualifications - 'blondness', youth & sex) at a later date.
I'd start applying for other positions through other recruiters. |

Yeah I've tried emailing my recruiter a couple of times and she keeps telling me that it should be within the next couple of days for sure.
I was reading that November tends to be a busy month, and I'm also working in Busan so a larger city may take longer for the application to get through immigration.
Litebear...where did you say you were working in Korea? Is it a smaller city?
Also, when does your teaching contract start?
My contract with my hagwon doesn't start till Nov. 27th, so maybe they waited a couple of days before submitting my application if they know they can get the issuance number quickly. Its a larger chain school so they should have connections. |

I'm Busan as well mate, but my contract starts a few days before yours and it takes a bit longer to get your Visa in the UK than the USA (i think?). So maybe they managed to get mines rushed through a bit.
If your recruiter is still maintaining contact I'd say that is a good thing. |
