I have never knocked anyone with a fine arts qualification. Nor would I; it
is one of the the greatest degrees that can be gained by a human being.
It takes a lot of guts and determination to show creativity. |

I've met loads of (European) non-English speakers in Seoul doing god knows what, and I doubt many of them had an MA in Korean Studies.
I'm actually kind of amused to see the vitriol directed at this guy, just because that was my experience too. After I paid off my student loan I thought I was over how broken and evil the Canadian post secondary system is, but after my trip to Europe I was boiling over with rage again.
Canada is worse than the US, cause at least the US has state schools with bargain basement pricing and you can make that choice if you just want a degree so you can qualify to get the hell out of there (my situation). |

Really? I thought Canadian universities were cheap for residents. I looked at a few for a masters program and the tuition for international students was about the same as what I would pay for in-state tuition at my 'bargain' state school.
Anyway, it doesn't matter, cause I've decided to pretend my degree was free. Yay! I'm Finnish! |

I owe 62kUSD for a BA in writing. Creative writing.
I spent 62 thousand and 5 years of my life to discover that I have zero talent for writing.
But that's what the college experience is all about, right? Discovery? 
And I didn't even get laid once... |

Not really that expensive, but the 4 credit course in alternative medicine I paid for in my first year of University. I was a bit naive and thought it might be interesting to learn about herbal remedies and things like acupuncture.
I now know how to channel energy from the sun into energy holes in people's auras. I also know that people with aquatic astrological signs often suffer from depression. |

THe XM radio option in my car was $850. I have never and will never use satellite radio, but was stuck with the option package that the car had.  |

I looked at a few American schools that have the MA I want, and for residents of those states they were incredibly cheap. The same program in Canada is insanely over-priced, resident or not. It's cheaper to do it at a US state school as a non-resident than do it in Canada. So I'm basing it on that.
Non-education related wastes of money? I bought a chocolate bar I didn't like once. 
(I've blown so much money on school I don't have any left to spend on stupid ****.) |
