Curious, what kind of music is popular in Korea these days?
Any good live music happening in Daejeon?
Places to go?

The big thing right now is groups of laboratory-grown boys and girls who focus more on dance routines than singing.

If you are interested in classical music/opera or any of the performing arts, check out the schedule at Daejeon Hall. I've been there a few times to see some performances.

If you are looking for rock music or anything like that, I've never heard any live music at any place I've been to, all over Daejeon.

That's too bad. I guess I'll have to get into classical or crackerjack music.
There must be some kind of open mike/bar band stuff somewhere around there though right?
Or is that all crammed into Seoul?

Same here in my time in Daejeon. No music scene here, only regurgitated K-pop played over and over EVERYWHERE you go.

One bright side is that there is a niche market for rock music if anyone plays. I know they have several open mic nights at Santa Claus Bar in goong dong. A friend of mine who was a musician said it was easier to get a gig here than in Seoul

Was in Yongsan the other day checking out monitors...
There was a group of these 'lab-grown' pretty-boys singing something about
'one Lub'. Had no idea what on earth they meant...
