Because apparently my 1 day bug turned out to be the Swiney according to their tests (I hear that test is wildly inaccurate). Since I live in a small town and my every move is noted, I can't even think about breaking quarantine.

I'm also Qtined because my Health Teacher has always seen me as the "Dirty Waygookin" (You should have seen her eyes bulge at the 38.1 reading) and looked at me as a source of disease from Day 1. A view which of course I cultivated to enable a sick leave should I need it. (BTW- I love her- she's that type of lady who sees me as the dirty waygookin, but will do her utmost to treat me and is always honest. She's got Good Folks' Hate in her heart)

It's now day 3.

Cabin Fever has set in and tonight is my last night of the generic pills (Expectorant, Aspirin, Cough-Suppressant, Some of other whathaveyou) they've given me. (I still have 3 days left of TamiFlu)

With that in mind... Can I start drinking tommorow? People who hate me for being an 'apologista'- Now's the chance to off me. Just add a disclaimer to your advice and your free from prosecution. "Yeah mixing alcohol and whateverprene won't cause you to have a pulmonary embolism, you'll be fine."

Answers from people who know what guidelines to take seriously and what guidelines are there just to avoid liability, your advice would be preferred however. Drunkards who abuse their bodies too. People with real advice, not doctors. Advice like "You'll be fine, but the buzz will suck." or "It'll make you sit on the toilet for 6 hours" or "Best Combo Ever"

This cabin fever is really getting to me. I've already read two books. I've beaten a game of Civ III, I can't play online Bridge all day. Watching TV and Movies sucks. The rambling, self-absorbed nature of this post probably reveals the onset of my psychosis.

Plus in the middle of the day I can crank my Stereo real loud and get drunk to music.

I guess some people have bad luck. I'm pretty sure I had the swine flu or something similar since I've had pretty much all the symptoms, but when I went to the uni health center with what felt like a bad fever they measured it to "35 degrees Celsius". It's obviously way off, but I didn't have the energy to fight them.

A little beer won't kill you. Don't over do it. By over do it, I mean get a nice buzz, then back way the Hell off for a few hours.

A friend of mine (not in Korea) was just hospitalized because she has tonsillitis, strep throat, the flu, and an inner ear infection. She can't eat and gets her meds through an IV. I don't know how they managed to ID all of those different illnesses, whose symptoms would certainly overlap, but she has it bad, bad, bad. Crying or Very sad

She told me that she is coming to work tomorrow. I will carry her sick arse right back out the door. Mad

The point that I am trying to make is that piggie flu isn't such a big deal if you're healthy. However, combining other illnesses with any sort of flu can kill you. The flu tears you up, the other bug then meets little opposition. It's a bit like folks with AIDS having near misses with death from the common cold, only to a much lesser degree.

Good luck. Don't drink for entertainment, drink to make entertainment better. Be careful.

Don't drink when you're taking Tylenol, or any other medicine that has the active ingredient in Tylenol (Acetaminophen) in it, because it can jack up your liver bad.

Aspirin is also more likely to cause stomach bleeding when mixed with alcohol.

There's no particular contraindication for Tamiflu and alcohol, but taking them together "may cause dizziness or lightheadedness." Have fun.

Just start drinking slowly, don't get too drunk, and wait a few hours after you have taken your meds to start. You don't want to overwhelm your system with aspirin and Tylenol and lots of alcohol all at the same time, but if you space everything out you'll be fine as long as you don't overdo it.

Thanks guys!, my last dose of general meds is this morning. After that its just Tamiflu.

Sounds interesting.

Just as long as it doesn't make me wig out or crap for 10 hours its all good. I'm really body-sensitive when it comes to alcohol, drugs (legal, of course) and infection, so I'm really good at knowing when to stop.

Thanks for the words of caution though, always good to have proper balance.

Nothing like Tylenol in my -eup, so I don't have to worry about that.

Time to call the grocery and have em send over the necessary goods...I should probably drink some Gatorade and get a nice meal in beforehand to replenish. Then its time to crank the music and blast people on Counterstrike.

Thanks again!

Dude noneof that in combination with booze is going to do you any real damage. You smoke like a trooper right? So your body is used to that, so it can handle a bit of asprin mixed with lager. Unless you a geriatric or a toddler ignore allt hat crap about asprin with beer or tylenol with beer will hurt your seniitive wittle tummy lining or jack up your poow wittle wiver... (liver)

And wise up to the fact that booze plus meds = good buzz (just don't do it on a regular basis aiiight)

A year back I was given these really good painkkillers after having my wisdom teeth out. Took two and two cans of cass and lay on my bed for an hour feeling like I was floating in the sky. I won't say it wasn't fun.

Funny you mention the smoking, I'm actually using this whole thing as an excuse to quit- so far so good, 5 days without a smoke. I know booze=smokes, but at some point I'll have to drink without smoking. Might as well git er done.

I've actually never done the booze+meds buzz because back in the states I was hourly so I had no med insurance. Plus being adopted and having no med history, meds have always made me a little leery. So instead when I was sick I just drank booze (to cleanse) and OJ (to boost), took Halls, and smoked/ingested non-tobacco based products to alleviate my symptoms. Funny thing was I always was just SICK sick for 24 hours. Everyone else who said don't drink and went to the hospital always was sick for a week. Hah.

That Hot-Toddy sounds good. Now I know what my grocery delivery list is.

Well, I just got back from the run to the corner store, so time to get a drinkin. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Who knows maybe there will be a thread about how I stumbled and broke my arm or something. Anyways I'm off to do some gaming and watch 'The Battle of Britain' with Olivier, Michael Caine, Christopher Plummer, and Ian McShane in it. Fav. WWII movie for me. Should be a good one wiht the booze.

Better to be a good liver than to have one.

I like WW2 films too.

What do you think of 'The iron cross?'

I though Coburn's acting and his character were fab.

Internet shopping helps... a lot.

I know I know, it's more of like a female thing, but cruising the latest electronics or phones... damn it's fun and addictive.

Also even though this is aimed for 14 year old testerone driven boys,

I'd be seriously careful with those generic drugs. When I got roped into going to hospital for a cold, the doc prescribed the usuals I thought. Little did I know that the usuals included ulcer meds, something for bronchitis (it was a head cold) and some unknown drug that made me feel like I was on speed. Use common sense, take care and get better soon.
