Should we be changing our location to korea than for a better connection? I can download a 500 mb torrent in 30 seconds, yet I'm often wiht yellow bars or red bar on live

Hmm well if you change your location to Korea, you will most likely get connected with people playing from Korea or with people that have their settings switched Korea. Your internet speed won't change. It's just the fact that you're connecting to servers on the other side of the world that is giving you yellow/red bar connections.

Not to promote boosting (which I hate), but that's how people boost. They will change their xbox location settings to something crazy like Djibouti and search for a live game and most likely get connected together with their friends to boost. So by the same idea you could change your location to USA to play with people here living in the States.

Edit: MW2 is freaking awesome Smile

Well, we're hoping MW2 will be as awesome as MW1.........online/multiplayer? I've never got that kick either. I don't get what's cool about playing games with 16 year old idiots in Montana.

I really enjoyed playing COD4 online at first, but after a while you'd get people cheating or camping at all the spawn points so it soon became a bore.

PC players are used to having dedicated servers for their multiplayer games. Dedicated servers are proper servers, usually commercial, with high processing capabilities, and high upload bandwidth. When using these types of servers, the multiplayer experience is low ping (if you're near) and also the server is a permanent base where a clan or regular players can keep going to.

Activision have screwed the community by removing dedicated server support in favour of listening servers (some kiddie at home on his laptop and 0.5 M upload.) problems with this include:

No permanent player base: servers are constantly shifting, makes clan play/organisation near impossible.
lag:low upload bandwidth and lower processing capability, as well as the server having to run a grapical instance of the game all mean the experience is extremely laggy, and unreliable (lots of dropped servers)
interrupted gameplay when the host 'migrates' (basically when the kiddie with the laptop's mum calls him for dinner he turns off his computer and the server host has to change, causing a 5 second delay and usually, a crash.

Other problems include:

only 6vs 6 and one game type of 9 vs 9 (simply because of the lack of a dedicated server) the old mw had 64 player servers because it had dedicated server support.

No lean (because they basically straight ported it from the console and couldn't be bothered to do any specific pc platform programming.)

No mods/custom maps (modding made COD what it is today.)

Console FOV (again, they couldn't be arsed to change the FOV for the pc platform because it is a straight console to PC port. This means you feel motion sick and claustrophobic when playing. Simple laziness and arrogance on the part of IW.)

the developer's attitude towards the PC community. Arrogant, disrespectful, untruthful, misleading and rude. Accusations of piracy are unfair as only 2% of multiplayer servers were cracked. (Basically a good dedicated server multiplayer is what makes a game worth buying instead of pirating, because you need a CD key and because it gives you longevity instead of 4 hours play for 50.)

Remember COD was a PC game and developed to where it is today on the PC. IW have done all this simply because the console gives them more money and they can't be bothered to program for the PC any more, but instead of being honest, have tried to dupe the PC community.

Its not fun playing with them, but its a blast owning them with REAL friends from either here in Korea or from the States. I dont play online without friend due to the 16 year olds you talk about. Its all about playing with friends to me.

I changed my local to korea and it's not helping, still yellow bar. On the kill cam my reactions are so much later, it's hard to do good in this game if the other person always has a faster connection. I don't know what to do man, it seems the problem is not my internet connection, but rather that everyone else is playing in America.

Seeing as how the PC Multiplayer of this game has been made rubbish, why not just give Activision the finger, download the game for free, and just play it in Single player.

I'm already half-way through the Single player campaign. All in glorious English.

It's damn good fun.

I'm constantly on yellow bar in Halo 3, my settings are for USA, and I consistently get 15+ kills for team slayer, mostly killing frenzies.

I do not see your point. Rise above n00b.

I'm back home now, but when I was in Korea playing MW1, I usually couldn't stand having a yellow connection (PS3). This year's game has been better in my experience, in that a yellow bar usually has a good enough connection not to get smoked.

If you can't stand it quit if you have a bad connection.

LOOOVE the multiplayer so far. So many things to unlock, so much more important to use teamwork. Waiting to level up to the M16 now...

I just received my US copy of Modern Warfare 2. I can't play it until 10:30 tonight though... 6 more hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I played some MW1 multiplayer and have been getting a lot of yellow bars lately... About a week ago, I was full and green. Anyone know what's going on?
