Hi
I am going traveling to South America and was looking for ways to use my Korean bank account. I have been informed by KB that they will give me a credit card to use for a deposit of 1000,000 Won and that it is directly connected to my normal account to which I have a debit card.
Does anyone know anything about this?!

Many thanks

Jay

Yes- this is true. I had one cc made (but found it easier to use something else) The issue is, if you don't pay the bill (even before the pay period, but after the billing cycle) the use can get cut off until the bill is paid. Annoying!

But you can control the credit limit depending on your deposit.

I thought what they were telling me that the money would come out of my main bank account. Is this not the case? And how do you pay it off, assuming that the two are separate, since they don't mail you anything out?

my samsung card debits my bank account at the end of every month. you can set the percentage you want to pay off, but it starts at 100% unless you change it. your banks will probably do the same.

As for KB bank. You can start the card at 1,000,000 but take it as high as you want. I kept uppingmine tell I reached 10m, this way if an emengercy happened I could use it for flights, travel, vacation or even university fees.

Best of all, you never have to worry about intrest.

Just be careful of the interest rate that you get charged. I had a secured credit card iwth KEB but they still stung me 26.5% interest.

I asked them to cut my rate, as they had 108% security, they wouldn't.

Samsung gave me an unsecured card at 22.9% which was cut to 16.9% after 9 months of on time payments.

Samsung Card good (if you work for a large company/hagwon/governement) most banks bad.
