What do you think? This is probaly my last xmas in Asia and in the past i've gone to thailand and japan. Money is tight this year though so i'm thinking seoul or beijing.
Seoul because I have never been up there bar the airport and main train station and beijing because it's close enough and I can get a flight for about 350-400,000 with accomadation as cheap as the proverbial chip.
Either trip will be a max of 6 nights. Any suggestions? |

If it were me I'd do Beijing. You could easily do Seoul on a regular weekend while you're living here. Plus, it's not very exciting. At least there's a lot to do and see in Beijing. |

Beijing! Such an awesome city. Way more to do and see than Seoul. Forbidden city, day (or overnight) trips to the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, etc etc etc. There is so much history there that there is so much to do. And it's definitely cheaper (once you get there) than Seoul. |

Interesting replies. Seoul isn't my favorite city, and would not be my first choice, but I really didn't like Beijing when I went (only for 10 days, I'm not expert).
Personally, I'd say: go somewhere else! Seoul is nothing special for Christmas, even if I do like it batter than Beijing. |

thanks, yeah think im going to go with beijing, there's nothing in seoul that appeals to me and i would probaly spend my time there just ing..at least in beijing there are "world famous" places to visit. The only downside would be the cold but a pair of long johns and a hot whisky after trudging around in the snow all day should fix that....cheers |

Beijing is a must see city. If you're leaving asia soon, you have no choice; SEE BEIJING.
Forbidden city, tian'anmen, great wall (bloody cold in the winter), palaces galore, museums etc. fantastic. |

Don't go to Seoul. Seoul is just like every Korean city you've ever been only bigger. |

Beijing! Last year I was in Beijing the week between Christmas and New Year. There is so much to see there, and if you don't mind the cold its a great time to visit. When I was there there was no pollution, the skies were blue and clear, and we had all of the tourist sites to ourselves. The Great Wall though was one of the coldest things I've ever experienced though - I made the mistake of taking a bottle of water with me and it froze within FIVE minutes. The city itself will be cold, but coming from Michigan, it was tolerable. |
