I find her statement ironic considering everyone on her continent is stereo typed as being short by the west.

My goodness...watching that youtube clip...what a stupid, sterotype loving, mindless piece of rubbish that show is!! Topics like "How do Korean Girls have so many luxury items?". Talk about pandering to a particular mindset!!!

Something about height gets men really riled up.

Most women really aren't so bothered by being short.

There is some sort of instinctual perception that taller men are more attractive. The saying usually goes "tall, dark and handsome" it's our natural instinct to prefer taller men. Much like our natural instinct tells us to prefer more handsome or beautiful women.

Using the term loser is misguided. But I don't see why people are soooo bothered by it. I mean, it's a bubbly head university girl who probably has shoes on her top 10 priority list of what she's thinking of... maybe handbags who knows. (I joke ladies, you can send all hateful PM's to my real username... asmith)

If you read the article, I think she states that she was just reading the script. so she shouldn't be in any trouble, it's all the writer's fault.

Who cares if it was scripted? She willingly chose to read it on public television. Perhaps the individuals who are angry at her should also be angry at the writers, but she certainly shouldn't be exempted, and I've no idea how they could find out exactly who wrote it anyway.

Going on TV and saying things like this has consequences. I certainly hope she doesn't kill herself over it, but if she's going to verbally scorn others over a nation-wide medium -- regardless of who wrote the words for her -- it's hardly surprising if she receives scorn in return.

You're a teeny tiny little guy aren't you? Thought so.

Well, I'm under the 180 centimeter cut off point she insisted on, but not by much at 176 centimeters.

Baby Wipes wrote:
Consequences? Scorn? Are you for real? She said guys under 180cm are losers. So what?

And thousands of people are now saying she's a loser. So what? When you openly insult mass numbers of people, life can quickly become unpleasasnt for you. Perhaps that's a lesson she should have learned sooner.

Good job empathizing with your painfully insecure little korean brothers Fox.

I'm not empathizing with anyone, her words don't affect me at all. If she's going to insult people on public television, though, it's hardly surprising that she won't be well liked, and people are totally within their rights to do so.

But that still doesn't explain your (and others) justification for over-the-top netizen actions. She made a pretty vanilla, blanket statement about a group of people. So what? It's one girl's opinion and nothing more. I'm 190cm's and if some college girl stated on some national program that all tall guys 180cm's and over are ugly and scary i'd laugh and say "well, that's her opinion i guess" and go on with my day. Outrage would be the last emotion that would surface.

The point here isn't about what people's rights are. What i don't get is why it's such a horrible, controversial thing to say -- and moreover why people on this site are siding with the netizens and think what this girl said was over the line. Any given night on Bill Maher you'd hear things that would bury something as innocuous as "men under 180cm's are losers."

Here I feel a little schadenfreude, as these girls say a lot of mean things. No one thought it a problem when they called foreign men in Korea LBH ('losers back home'). Now that they've said something that offended the Korean men who hired them to wag their tails and say cute things, it's getting quite entertaining.

Nevertheless, as for the show: great ratings!

That's a great point, because only a few months ago they had an episode bashing foreign guys.

http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2009/07/since-those-foreign-girls-put-out-so.html

I don't recall any Korean netizens getting riled up when Eva said:
Quote:
UK-born Eva said, foreign men who were not popular in their home countries are treated like kings Its so strange that western men who of course have very plan features are always being followed by pretty girls.

Eva added, if a Korean friend of mine is thinking about having a western boyfriend I tell her to let me see him first. Once my Korean friends boyfriend from the UK turned out to have a girlfriend back in the UK.

Or when others said:
Quote:
Kenya-born Euphracia said, in Korea it seems that if youre tall and just speak English well, youre treated as the king My other Kenyan friends were so surprised when they went out with they Korean girlfriends. Germany-born Vera said, if a German guy is tall then everybody thinks hes handsome in Korea They come to Korea and start acting like Casanova.

Besides, making fun of men and stereotypes is pretty much what drives the show nowadays. Nobody cares when they talk about Chinese people not showering, or Americans being overweight.

But, this shows you exactly what'd happen if they ever had that "Minam Suda" program they talk about from time to time. Everything is fine when Korean men (and women) are flattered, but God forbid somebody express an opinion not on the script, or not part of the national company line.

Korean netizens are incredibly vicious who are only looking for their next victim. Biggest bunch of cry-babies in Asia.

Yes, the girl said something stupid; she should be rebuked for that. I'm sure she is regretting appearing on that Chat with Brainless show already.

The way she has been personally attacked and demonised is a step too far.

I wouldn't kick her out of bed.

Um.

I realize this is off topic (significantly), but (and forgive me if I've mistaken you for someone else) but weren't you the one who posted all that junk about how your girlfriend dumped you for no reason or something?

I hope these two weren't the same girlfriend. Otherwise, I think you might have some critical thinking issues.

Their actions don't require justification. She pissed them off by being insulting on national television, they responded by demonstrating their displeasure in a totally legal fashion.

Baby Wipes wrote:

And now she gets called loser girl and her home page is well known. So what?

And you can say the same thing for each person calling her loser girl now. In each case, it's just one person's opinion. It just so happens that her insult pissed off many people, so now there are many people whose opinion is that she is a loser. That's the price of voicing your insults on public television.

Baby Wipes wrote:

And I feel the same way, personally. I'm not outraged at her behavior, nor do I feel shame about my height or her opinion of it. I just don't condemn people who pay her back in her own coin, even if it might be with interest.

Baby Wipes wrote:

What I don't get is why you're here defending her calling millions of men losers on public television, but have a problem with people calling her a loser in return. She was uncivil, they responded to her lack of civility.

I don't think what she said is over any imaginary line. I just think it was insulting, and meant to be insulting, and people who didn't like her words are responding by insulting her. Call people a loser on public television, get called one in return. That's life.

Maybe so many netizens are upset because when she mentioned "short", she wan't refering to actual height but to something else being short instead.
