I went there friday and enjoyed it as well. Your right the curries aren't quite as good as Bombay but for 6-7000 less your doing alright. The owner seemed like a nice enough chap. The menu is a bit more limited. I think I will stick with Bombay when I am looking for a top notch meal but for curry on the cheap Maya is pretty solid. As for service at Bombay, best way to avoid that is just to order over at Obriens, have Austin or one of the girls handle it. |
Yea, the new place is definitely more limited but it has its niche in the market. I actually think it will do a lot better as it caters to Koreans much more than what Bombay does. They serve Korean rice and you get pickles as a side dish. This was my experience during lunch at least. |

That is my feeling as well.
I asked for Indian rice and they served me that instead of Korean rice for a cheap price so can't complain.
Was there for lunch this week...6 500 for a curry and naan is great value.
Same as shifter, maybe Bombay if i want soemthing classy (get rid of their floor manager though) and Maya for cheaper. Bombay have to lift their game however. |

Agreed, good cheap Indian food.
Another plug for a great restaurant is "Albeto." Italian food in Yong-ho dong. Weird place for a restaurant, but it is great. Best Italian I have had in Changwon. Only gripe is they don't have wine! |

I have been there as well. My wife loved it.
Very funky inside....and a nice walk after(or before dinner) in the garden across the road. |

Does anyone know of any good/cheap gyms in the downtown area. It'd be awesome to lose a bunch of weight. Also a student called me fat today and I was not amused.
I live right near the post office if that gives you any idea of location. Also I am female, if that matters.
Also, if they spoke any English so that I could purchase a membership, that would be awesome. |

most gyms are 50 a month...pretty standard.
have never been to any that have any level of English...bring a Korean friend or ask your foreigner friends. |

| Since we are on the subject of recommendations, can anyone suggest a dentist in Changwon? I went to Woori twice about 10 months ago, and they pissed me off both times. Any good spots. English speaking is good but not essential. |

I went to one in Jigwi san ga (spelling?) in Bong Gok Dong (it's on the main road near the bus stops) He was pretty good. Root canal and a gold cap for a fraction of what it would cost at home. When i went the actually dentist didnt speak much English but the receptionist in the evenings did. |

| I remember the summer of 1996, Masan got it's first McDonald's restaurant downtown. It was a BIG deal! They had bands and everything. Changwon was just a blip on the map. How Korea has changed since the first time i was here in 1978! |

| It's supposed to be opening on the 4th of December where the Mr. Pizza use to be in Youngho-dong, behind the Jungwoo Sungga building. |

I went to Burger King....delicious.
Also, there is a nice new-ish japanese noodle place next to Craze Burger.
Name is Hakoya....if you have ever lived in Japan it is the same styl Japanesee noodle and Donkas. Actually reminded a lot of Yoshinoya, except double the price. |
