My brother in-law back home has had his 360 for maybe 3 months, flashed with the latest FW. He never used a game that wasn't ripped post retail by himself with his own Kreon. He ran them all thru ABGX to verify stealth asn SS etc. All games passed and verified before burn. He has never used a wave 4 game.
He has been banned.

To me that says MS can see a flashed drive . Maybe something to do with the dash update. there are millions of theories. After He called me I checked and yeah, I'm banned. but to me it's expected, sometimes I never verified stealth at all.

C4EVA is working on a new "undetectable" FW, but until then, or even then, good luck with this latest ban wave 360 hackers. You're gonna need it.

It's a great idea if you like to play on Live. Boxes are cheap enough.

Yep. I have a mate who does that. Don't mix up each box though!

Some stores sell used and trade games too, if you're looking to save money.

They probably banned people running bad wave 4 copies. Long story short, the newer games are a bit different and a new firmware hack wasn't released until recently so many of the people who were banned were probably playing it on the old 1.51 firmware which doesn't check to make sure your copy is correctly patched.

Everything is alright now as long as you use firmware 1.61

I got banned. Don't really know how they caught on. I only used live for dlc though, so that's fine with me. Now I save money by having no dlc impulse buys Very Happy

The other good part is not having to make the trip up to Yongsan for the new firmware since I can just mod wave 4 to look like wave 3 with no more ban worries Very Happy

No, wait for the new firmware i.e "Light Touch". Don't go on live till then.
It's not all about wave 4. My brother in law was running only wave 3 games.

I know what you mean, noe more worries about banning, and playing games super early. Assasins Creed 2 is coming in now.

Truth! I'm sad about not showing off my gamer score, but playing free games still trumps that! Very Happy

One theory is that Activision pushed for it for the release of Modern Warfare 2, because of the immense popularity of the online portion of the game.

I haven't touched single player yet...

BTW, there is a new firmware for wave 4 discs, Firmware 1.61, it's easy to flash it yourself if you got the tools to open up the console like I do.

My guess is that you guys had firmware 1.51 which has NO security checks and allows all discs to play and at one point stuck in a disc that wasn't correctly patched.

You said "latest" firmware, which shows me that you probably didn't know which firmware version you were running and just trusted the guy who did it for you that it really is the latest.

When you log on to live with an incorrectly patched disc it is recorded and the ban might not come immediately. I've also read that when you stick a disc into your drive, and the mainboard does a security check on the dvd drive, it will record if a badly patched disc is in there even if you are offline, waiting for when you are on live to send the "modder" signal to live.

BTW I do Xbox 360 mods in Seoul area if anyone's interested.

dude over a million people were banned. make a quick buck if you can, but if you have less than two xbox 360s in your household... really?

if you play xbox for free games offline, then game on. if you can afford an xbox, but not $60 for a game, then welcome back to the real world.

I thought 1.6 bypassed wave checks, but still did stealth checks as all Iextreme does.

What's has been stated today by one of the creators of Iextreme is "<+c4eva> behaviour of ixtreme is detectable on backups!"
I'd take that to mean all Iextreme.

Today we had the arrival of Left for dead 2, which has avatar awards, and the facebook tie in on the video layer. So it is in essence "wave 5". God know what else is in there. Playing LFD2 offline would be a waste of time maybe, but anyone silly enough to go online with iextreme/backup games right now is asking for a ban if you ask me.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the data can only be used on the machine it used to D/L it.
