Which is the better buy? I have an ipod touch so I wouldn't use either for videos. I am looking more for something to keep my attention on the subway going to work. If I get the PSP, what models can be hacked? How easy is it to do? Thanks! |

I find DS games to be more entertaining during commutes. |

I put books and such on my psp, plus it has a web browser and skype (not that that will help you on the subway, but still). |

I use my DS for reading books on the subway. I'm told there's a free internet browser as well. I just haven't felt the need to hunt it down. There's a ton of decent games out for it and a lot of really good ones. |

I have both. The DS is more of a short game machine, at least for me. It sits in my bathroom ready at all times. I enjoy the PSP more for longer trips and it has much better graphics. It all really depends on what kind of games you want to play on it.
As for modding, the DS is extremely easy, you just need to get an R4 card or something similar (they sell these in most video game shops in Yangson. As far as I know with the PSP you will need an older model (1000 or 2000) but I may be wrong. Then you have to change the firmware. I have seen some PSPs being sold on the Buy/sell forums here so keep your eyes out. |

I have both, I have yet to find a game for the PSP that can hold my attention. The DS has Brain Age, Wario Ware, all sorts of stuff to keep my short term attention span from wandering during commutes. |

i bought a psp a few months ago at yongsan. a brand new psp 3005 was 230k won. the price might have gone down since then because of the psp go, but i'm not sure. the 3005 can be hacked if the firmware is 5.03 or lower. anything above that cannot be hacked. a psp 3000 cannot be a permanent hack (will need to be hacked again if the psp is shutdown), but it's really easy to do. don't pay them to do it. just look for youtube how to videos.
or, they also have used psp 2000's for sale, but these cost more than brand new 3000's.
i'm pretty sure there are ds emulators for the psp. i haven't looked into those much but i have an n64 emulator and an snes emulator on mine. these can be good for short trips/nostalgia. |

Dude I have PSP but hate using it for gaming while on the go.
I find the ipod and DS much better for that.
I'd go for DS mate. |

I bought a DS for my wife and a PSP for myself--unfortunately it's a 3005 and can't be hacked as yet, but online games sell used for 10 bucks or so--a good deal depending on their replay value.
PSP= better graphics, better selection of games, larger screen, capacity to hook it up to a tv, shorter battery life.
DS= more for children than adults, but with the R4 I got seriously addicted to Metroid Pinball. |
