|

Forgive me if this has been posted before, but I looked and couldn't find anything recently about this.
I've been hearing from a few people that their schools are saying they must be back in Korea 7 days before they're supposed to be back at school, which means they are only allowed to leave the country for 1 week and must spend the second week of vacation in quarantine here in Korea.
My school hasn't said anything about it to me, but several other people have been told this by their schools and one just bought his tickets to China today and now is told he can't go because he must be back a week early.
Is there a law against this? What can people do if their schools tell them this? |

i'd argue with this. vacation days are to be used by us how we see fit. they can not tell us what to do during our contracted vacation. i wouldn't worry about this yet, i doubt the school boards (once contacted) will support this. honestly, i think the most they'd get away with is a 7 day unpaid quarantine period after vacation is over. |

Don't tell them. I went to Japan for Chuseok and told my school I was going to Chuncheon. I'm a dirty lying foreigner but I get mine. |

I thought that the quarantine nonsense died a while ago. |

What's the point of a quarantine? Swine flu is here, or did some of us sit around for a week with a thumb up our - for nothing? |

I just came back from a 4 day "vacation" last night. They're not even taking temperatures at the airports anymore.
Just tell them you're going to Busan if they ask. No worries. |

it did for the new recruits, but i've heard of people getting quarantined for colds now. i think the schools are just preparing for when the flu season is in full swing. |

I think there is some article floating around Dave's that says Korea is #1 in the world for swine flu cases. Just show them that and explain how it is safer for you to be out of the country than to stay here and get sick. |

I'm at a PS and had a week away in the first week of November and did not face any quarantine when I returned. |

I'm going abroad soon.
I lied to my school. I said i was thinking about going to Busan.
It's easy to lie to koreans. They do it ALL the time to you. Go wherever you like on vacation and enjoy yourself. You are giving way too much consideration and respect to people who don't deserve it. Good lord, maybe i'm being a bit too harsh and judgemental against our hosts. Have a nice vacation anyway.
