Hello everyone,

I'm really interested in teaching near Hongdae (within 30 minutes) and was hoping some of you could offer advice on how I could go about this. (Maybe possible areas near there?) I'm willing to wait for the right opportunity.

I'm currently living in the United States and I don't have teaching experience in Korea, but I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and am persistent with a positive attitude. i'm also a guy and sadly won't be getting the hot girl bump.

thanks and i really appreciate your advice!

30 minutes from Hongdae puts you in about 60% of Seoul.

Shouldn't be a problem if you're willing to wait, but you'll have to look at hagwons, mostly.

Hi, I really, really want to teach in Hongdae because I'm really serious about teaching and it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a college graduate that isn't ready to leave college and I promise I won't give the profession a bad name and oh yeah how do you get kgirls to like you?

Thanks for your time everyone!

In all seriousness, it took me 10 minutes to find a job in Hongdae. I start in December.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum so I just want to say "hello" to everyone here.

I'm have a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English to Koreans, and I graduated from a top-2 university here in the USA. I'm a really good student, and I'm a really nice guy. I work really hard, and I really really really really want a job near Hongdae so that I can work in a professional setting and develop my teaching skills.

pause...think...

"wait a second...I don't have to convince a bunch of guys on Dave's that I'm qualified, sincere, or anything. You guys aren't recruiteres... I can just tell you the truth."

Okay, here's the truth. I have a pulse and wanna meet young Korean girls. Smile

I want a job near Hongdae and I don't want to spend any time, effort or money on the process. Is it possible to find a job there by the end of today?

Do you think the "JOBS" section of this website might be useful? It appears to have 1000's of jobs, but I'm just not sure if that's enough choice.

Smile

(Maybe it's Monday morning...)

jwolfe2,

Seriously, just look at what Bassexpander wrote.

Are you American by chance? (not meant as a snide comment)...

30 minutes from Hongdae is like saying I want to live a 1 hour flight from New York.

Hongdae is on the main subway line and you can get to Hongdae from a ton of directions because of the nearby transfer areas.

You shouldn't have any problem getting a job in that area, or any trouble finding living accomodations within 30 minutes.

Now... finding a "good job" and acquiring "good living accomodations" at a "good price" is a much different question.

Smile

Why exactly do you 100% need to be in Hongdae only and nowhere else?
Please don't spin the line that you want to be a good teacher as the only possible answer to why this location .
Hongdae is party Seoul central - so surely you want to be there because you have heard the exciting action rumors and want to be where the apparent parties and fun is? Or maybe you have a friend there already who is going to let you stay at his free apartment so you can make more money and do privates as well???

I don't even know why I need to justify myself to a group of two-bit hack teachers looking to get laid (not everyone here). But here ya go:

I'm very interested in art and graphic design and Hongik University is there. I also enjoy 'indie' music and culture and there is more of that there than other areas of Seoul.

i dont think that is the best way to get their help. like mentioned before, check the JOBS forum, and email anyone that says they have a job available there.
