Our contract with the school we are supposed to work for doesn't start until the beggining of January. We sent in all our documents and thought we would have our visa issuance number by now, so we could leave early and do some traveling. Our school now tells us it is not done being built and so they do not have the authority to apply for our visa's yet. I have been finding mixed answers about getting a first time south korean e2 visa in a country that is not our home country. Is this possible? Ideally we would like to leave now and not have to come back to apply for our visa, any thoughts??

From what I've read on the forums, it is possible to get it in a third country. However, you need to get your degree verified by some organization in Korea. Not sure of the name, but I'm pretty sure your school has to request them to do this. But if your school can't apply for a visa yet, then I'd assume they wouldn't be able to request this either. If that's not possible, then you would have to get your visa in your home country because of the interview.

I can tell you that I was not in my home country or Korea when I got my visa. Because of the process of getting all my documents, it was a pain in the butt. However, if you have all of your documents ready, it may be easy. I was in Australia and the visa itself was a breeze and even cheaper for me than for my husband. Also, we did not have to do an interview.

hi,

Thank you for responding, the information is very helpful. What documents did you have to get? Are you talking about the initial documents you give to the school, or separate documents you had to get to apply for your VISA after you got your issuance number?
