People on this board have some strange idea that Koreans are racist. But
the sheer ignorance of this opinion irks me. The only group that could be
construed as racist might be the "Anti English Spectrum" people. But if
you read their manifesto, they just want legal, educated teachers for
their children. (how terrible)

Now lets look at the glorious USofA with 602 confirmed racist groups.

Here are some of the "A"s just to get you started. I like Alaska with one racist
group especially for the ladies. I guess they want those pesky Inuit to
go home.

How many representatives from those groups get invited to speak as authorities at government meetings, like the Anti-English Spectrum rep did at an Immigration committee? I do see your point, but what I think is important is whether or not those groups are accepted by people in power...

Excellent work, Trinidad.

Now can you show us the list of minority advocacy groups in the USA? You know, just so we get the whole picture.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Say something that matters. There being snow in Siberia has nothing to do with a sunny day in Florida.

Most teachers are legal and educated. All the E-2s jumped through those lousy hoops to be here. We could (and some do) have degrees and certifications up the kazoo and AES would still hate on/want us out.

Obviously, there is a lot of racism in the U.S. A lot. However, a lot of posters here would rather pretend like it's completely unrelated to their whining of racism in Korea (even though I don't think it is at all).

At the same time...the U.S. and Korea have had VERY different histories of immigration, so the two can't REALLY be compared...oh, I don't know what I'm even saying or defending. Carry on with the flaming that is sure to commence.

Here-Here.

Just a quick note. Please people, don't get into a bashing game on the poster.

Yes, he/she has brought up a very relevant point. There are groups as listed in the US who are out-right racists. Now, I don't know my geography well but were those groups largely concetrated in the South?

And another valid point. Do they have access to speak at government (national) meetings as another poster mentioned? Yes, there maybe speakers at Republican organized Tea Bag gatherings who are part of racist organizations but they are not there representing their group such as the Anti-English Spectrum representatives seem to do.

And the racist groups in the US, how many people are influenced by their words or see them as nutcases. I think quite a large portion of Americans. But how many Koreans are influenced by the words of Anti-English Spectrum?

And when you have the Chief of Police of the afluent area of Gangnam come out and say that all English teachers have AIDS and take drugs, in the national media and no one flinches or counteracts such comments. At least in the Korean media.

In the States, when racists groups attack minority groups (verbally or physically) there are millions of individuals and 1000's upon 1000's of organized groups to condem such actions and give support to those affected.

So, what many probably feel is that we don't seem to get that support. We only have each other to discuss the various problems that we have.

It is important not just to simplify and compare OP and say the other is worse or whatever. But it is important to realize is those that are affected by such actions on this board and in this country.

Meaning what -- two people as members?

Remember that we are talking about a country of some 300 million.

The Republicans are all Racists? Tea Party-goers are all Racists? Is this your point? Is a protest speaking at a government meeting? Does anything you just said make any sense to anyone with even an iota of sense? The answer to all of those questions is No.

Turn off CNN. Go outside. Observe. You will be a better person for it.

Are these minorities in America forbidden by law from having a union?

I thought not.
