|
|
I am currently in the process of re-signing with my GEPIK school. My contract runs from December to December. I obtained a TESOL certificate and received 2.1 million won for the first time this November. I was under the impression I would be on 2.2 a month as a result of my 1 year of experience and TESOL certificate. However, my school now tells me that it is only after 1 year from the date I obtained my TESOL certificate that I will be able to get another 100k raise and thus be raised to 2.2 million won.
Is this accurate? How can I resolve this? |

Just going by memory but I think my contract says you get the W100k raise for TESOL no matter when you get it (even mid-contract)
My calculations are the same as yours: W100k raise (TESOL) + W100k raise (1 year experience)
What does your contract state? Do you have that "Dr. GEPIK" handbook that was distributed a couple months ago? I remember it saying something in there about it. Best bet is to hunt down the exact wording somewhere.
You should also contact your GEPIK district coordinator(s) and Dain Bae if necessary. |

It does not qualify you for 2.2 the second year. You have to be at category 2 for a year before you can qualify for to be category 2+. Therefore, it seems you should turn in your certificate in the first month of your second contract, since raises resulting from TESOL certification occur immediately.
I am hoping to receive confirmation of this from Dain Bae soon. |

| Yeah you need to be a category 2 for a year before being moved to the 2+. Give it to them now and maybe you will have two months of 2+ pay at the end of next year. If you decide to stay a third year, then i believe you will be a category 1 automatically after the 2nd year. |
