Anyone here ever have a year contract with LG or know someone who has? If so, I'm wondering if you could describe the job (hours, pay, conditons, etc.). |

LG seems to like to work only with agencies (a buffer for when they get busted for having illegal teachers onsite). They also seem to prefer females to males, and Kyopos (F4 visa status I assume). The site in Osan has been busted at least once a year, for the last few years, for having people on SOFA and tourist visas working there., hence the turnover on agencies during that time.
I've known of one person that was offered a fulltime contract with LG (Canadian female), but that was at their training center in Canada. I don't personally know of anyone who's been able to get a full time contract with them in Korea.
They also seem to be ok with hiring Koreans to teach English (legal status again), but only if they are young, attractive females.
I've talked with people in HR at LG over the last 4-5 years, and this seems to not have changed at all over that time.
They do have a training center they send employees to, but in the past they required that instructors lived onsite (among other things), because they want you to spend all of your off time socializing with the "students".
I've know a few female instructors at some of the large company training centers, and they spend many evenings drinking and eating Kalbi with the (mostly male) "students".
Besides, in most Korean companies "training" is actually a euphemism for "vacation". |

I heard one location is looking to pay 2 million/month with housing. That's pretty low. Pretty sure it's through a recruiter, so the recruiter must be getting a cut. LG may have their employees on a short leash, but I don't think they pay that low.

lol...that's like asking "how much do hagwon/uni teachers get paid. How are their hours..."
Every place is different. You have to work out a contract with them. Just like your would any other job. |

If you don't know what you're talking about, refrain from posting. I've gotten one informative response and one very informative PM that has helped me out.
What you've posted is useless. |

You can be sure the agency is taking at least half the money for doing nothing at all, probably more. That gig should pay around 5, easlily.
The problem is, LG does not like to hire direct. It's much eaiser for them to fire someone with the buffer (agency) if things don't work out.
It's also much easier to get an illegal teacher that will work cheap, if they are going through an agency, since the agency has no real requirements education-wise when hiring for these positions. They probably sponsor them on Entertainment visas, which is appropriate, since that's all they really do anyway. |
