I could. I have no emotional or physical limitation preventing me from doing so. However, I wouldn't, because I don't feel their death in any way rectifies the wrong done, and thus is not justice at all.
I can understand from a hypothetical point of view why many governments execute criminals, because they aren't really in the business of justice, but rather are in the business of deterrence, and feel -- rightly or wrongly -- that the death penalty serves as an effective deterrent. That's not anything I'm interested in being party to. |

If it were someone near and dear to me, and I knew I would not get caught...then....maybe. |

I've thought about this before. I think I could kill someone if I felt they deserved it, but when I think about disposing of the body, I get squeamish. I mean, cutting through all the bones, putting the body into bags? The worst part would be all the blood though.
As much as I like the show (and I do), I prefer the Batman way of doing things. |

I could willingly if I knew the person didn't suffer from psychological anti social behavior or learned it from their environment.
If that person fits neither of those requirements and did a heinous act, I would want him dead off the planet because his genetics would be so selfish and would deleterious for humanity.
Our species must be clear and pure of dirt and they are merely enemies to the human species... at that point not even human. |

You need to watch the movie "Sniper" starring Tom Berringer and Billy Zane. It's not too far from the truth. When it comes right down to it philosophizing about pulling a trigger and actually doing it at the moment are worlds apart. There are reasons that when a person is lethally injected they have multiple people pressing the buttons (all dummies but one) because of the psychological angst persons can feel after the fact knowing that they had killed someone. |

I was wondering when someone was going to bring this up. I don't know how many of you were actually serious in this thread, but it just sounds like a bunch of guys who talk tough but probably couldn't go through with anything. Not that I have any first-hand experience, but you are obviously going to be in a much different mental (physically, too) state when you're faced with killing someone as opposed to sitting in a room in front of a computer. |

Yeah but that's defining it in terms of HOW we would kill him.
If it was a simple, yes and no verbal confirmation I could do it easily. If it was a button I'd be pressing it again and again.
But if the man is physically in front of me and I have to shoot him, there's going to be some obvious second doubts about doing it. I can see his eyes, feel his emotions and everything. Even though he isn't really human.... he's still a human.
It's a good question to ask. OP What is the premise behind the methodology of delivery for his demise? |

I have a very communist and collectivist thinking about humanity. I think humanity should be a unit, much like cells in the human body. Our species should be working together united like a bee hive or an ant colony. (super organism) For the most part, we can achieve social harmony. The problem is there are too much "cheaters" or "viruses" such as psychopaths or people with APD. Which is why we don't trust each other. In some way we do. We trade, produce and help each other survive...
but the people who cheat steal and kill without purpose are meaningless to the survival of the human agenda. They need to be purged. They serve no higher function to the survival of our species.
Here's a test you can do. Think about yourself, if you could trade the lives of every human on the planet, if only it meant that you would die sooner... would you do it? I think most of us would. Because we are dedicated to each other and bonded (even if in far distance) by some kind of shared blood. But those who kill and are heinous to other people aren't like us. They are like viruses in the body only out to kill and destroy, and ultimately leading into their own destruction. |
