I have an interview with this school on Saturday. Anyone know anything about it? I have looked on the internet and can't find anything, I found something about BIS, but it was a different school or Hagwon. This BIS claims to be associated with SCIS (Seoul Chinese International School) which is an accredited International School. My question is is this place going to be an accredited international school or not? Anyone who knows anything about this, your information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What's their teacher selection criteria?

If it's just any BA or BS and living and breathing person, it's most likely hagwon.

Yeah I know. Their selection criteria is Certified teachers with experience only, but I have noticed some hagwons advertising this also lately. There are so many teachers here now that they can afford to be very picky - as well they should. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about it. Apparently, from what they have told me, it is a new branch of the Chinese International School, but I don't trust most people involved with education in Korea anymore. I had a school tell me last week that they were an International School and when I asked where all their students were from, they said 'Korea' happily. They didn't even know I had caught them in a lie. I just hung up the phone.

Actually, the reality is that for many of the international schools, it is often true that a large percentage of the student population is Korean. A Korean is allowed to attend an international schools if he or she has lived outside of Korea for 3 years, but of course, this rule is not always followed.

That is true. But there is only a certain percentage of Korean students allowed in International Schools for them to remain accredited. So if 100% are Korean, even if they have lived abroad, they will no longer be accredited and just become a very good Hagwon with loads of high-level English speaking students. My friend's child is fluent in English and lived in the U.S. for 7 years and he can't get into any international schools near where he lives because all the spots for Koreans are taken.

Sadly, it seems to me that it is not that difficult to keep accreditation.

...or the Koreans have foreign passports-be that by birth or just staying there for a few months and buying citizenship (some central American coutries are popular for that I remember reading)
