I am spending 2 days in Bangkok after a nice couple weeks somewhere very awesome. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a not too expensive hotel/hostel?

Also, what is a good area to stay in? I am really only there for one full day and will probably be doing some shopping and maybe a boxing match. Any recommendations for a district would be wonderful!

I stayed at Wendy House. Cheap, clean, breakfast, Internet, and the owner is incredibly sweet. Oh well, plus cheap beer. She'll call you a cab to the airport and help you find what you need. When I go back, that's where I will be staying again.

if you want a backpackers central khao san road. i am not sure about boxing but ping-pong shows are a definite. so many places that are cheap there, but also the central spot for anyone coming and going from se asia. if you dont want to be around hundreds of other foreigners, ladyboys, prostitutes, and vendors, i would suggest another area of town.

If its your first time, I'd recommend staying near Khao San. Yeah its way overtouristed, but coming from Korea you might find the abundance of cheap Western stuff a nice change, and you'll have plenty of chances to get away from it if you want. If you want a cheap place to stay I'd just recommend showing up and choosing whatever looks best. I did this arriving at 1:30 am a couple months back and managed to get a tolerable place right on Khao San for 150 Baht a night (less than 5 dollars). Not having reservations is nice in a place like Thailand where quality can vary tremendously within a price range - its nice to just be able to show up and choose what looks best.
