A model, at age 20? Was she involved in something illegal, or was she just a couple of fries short of a Happy Meal?

Reminds me of this song

Richard Cory

They say that richard cory owns one half of this whole town,
With political connections to spread his wealth around.
Born into society, a bankers only child,
He had everything a man could want: power, grace, and style.

But I work in his factory
And I curse the life Im living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard cory.

The papers print his picture almost everywhere he goes:
Richard cory at the opera, richard cory at a show.
And the rumor of his parties and the orgies on his yacht!
Oh, he surely must be happy with everything hes got.

But I work in his factory
And I curse the life Im living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard cory.

He freely gave to charity, he had the common touch,
And they were grateful for his patronage and thanked him very much,
So my mind was filled with wonder when the evening headlines read:
Richard cory went home last night and put a bullet through his head.

But I work in his factory
And I curse the life Im living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard cory

How can a sexy photo model be lonely? In France!
She sure wasn't trying then ...

The article mentions the stats on Korea and briefly describes the social turmoil of said country. It might not be too much of a stretch to consider her overall mindset in being a Korean. You can take a Korean out of the kingdom, but you can't take the Kingdom.................. cliche.

That's 9 Korean celebrities this year. There must be something special about this place and the way folks grow up here. It's sad.

Perhaps it's more of an Asian thing as Japan has worse suicide rate than Korea. Though that does not explain China's lower rate.

I would say it's a Confucian thing, people are obsessed with their image and can't handle not being perfect or uncomfortable. Suicide is a rich man's malaise, however. Once China hits the 10k per capita level or so it will start to catch up, it already has the highest female suicide rate in the world (way higher than among men) so that's not a positive indicator.
