That's okay but a little dry I guess I need more patience but yes, could be used in different ways....
Jonathan Harris does some amazing stuff - see his TED talks. His Word Count was one of his first creations. The quick way to complete this chart

84 I just got into my teach-the-young-kiddies mode and it was easy. It may be harder for those of you who teach middle school, high school or uni.
SPOILER ALERT! (don't read below if you haven't done it yet)
Of the sixteen I missed I can't believe I missed 'and' and 'think' though I understand a few I missed because I don't teach them to the younger beginner classes, specifically: 'other', 'only' 'even' 'just', 'as'. |

Good job teachers! I only got 55/100.
Hint: There is only one 7-letter word, one 6-letter word, and ten 5-letter words on the list. The rest are 4-letters and under. So think small. |

Feeling bummed I only got 67, after seeing the ones I missed.
I bet I'd have done better in the morning, but if I'd tried two hours from now, I'd have stunk it up proper.
Cool quiz, thanks for the link, kikomom! |

Anyone else notice how 'no' comes in at 56 but 'yes' doesn't come up at all? |

Whereas in Korean I would have to imagine 'yes/nei' would be #1 by far and 'no/aniyo' wouldn't even be on the list. #2 would be 'really/jinjja'
Also, it's pretty interesting if you look at that list and realize that some of the words that are close are commonly seen together as one phrase. For example the words 'then' and 'now' appear side-by-side at #s 72 and 73, respectively. They also form a common phrase "then and now."
More examples:
-#s 77 and 78 form the phrase "its over" - not sure is the 'its' is supposed to be possessive or a contraction but it's still quite humorous.
-#s 81, 82, and 83 are 'back,' 'after,' 'use' which are commonly seen in libraries and other places with communal goods in the form of the phrase "Please put [blank] back after use."
Sorry, this is what I think of at 2:30 AM |
