Hey all,
So, after several weeks of nursing my right ear back to health, I have decided to buy a different kind of headphone. Originally, I bought a $50 pair o earphones that goes in your ear. Well, that crap damaged my right ear, I think. So, now, I'm looking for a set of headphones that will provide me with crystal-clear sound and drown out background noise. My budget is around $100. Any suggestions from Gmarket? I'd greatly appreciate it.

They damaged your eardrum from too much loud noise? Or damaged it some other way? Sorry to hear that.
You're looking for over-the-ear headphones, then?
Everyone's hearing is different. There is a headphone store in Yongsan I-park on maybe the 3rd or 4th floor along the side wall. You can try out several brands/models. I suggest you go listen to some there and see what you like. Check around the net for better deals on the model you like. |

Yeah, exactly. The music was too loud (they are good earphones). So yes, I am looking for over-the-ear headphones. |

My vote (although you will probably find them for half of the Korea price on Amazon):
Denon AHD1001K or S (letter denotes color)
The Denon AHD2000 is a fabulous deal, but that's $200+ on Amazon, and well over 300,000 won in Korea.
The Denon AHD5000 is the best I've ever heard, but they want over 1 million won in Korea (while you can get them in the USA for under $400). A bit out of your range, though. |

For portability take a look at the Audio Technica ATH ES7 in your price range. I use the ATH ESW9 sometimes if I don't use my in-ears, but they are more expensive.
The Denon AHD1001 mentioned above is a good sounding phone too, but I found the isolation wanting, and subsequently sold them, as I originally bought them for portability.
Alternatively DJ phones may offer the isolation you require, but may be larger/bulkier.
If you can audition phones, do so. I hope to go to Seoul around Christmas time to try out the Audio Technica CK90PRO hopefully before purchasing. |

| I swear by my Bose QuietComfort 2. It makes long airplane trips barable. They want nearly 600,000 for them in Korea, but you can find them on Amazon for under $200. A high quality pair of over the ear headphones for $100 will be hard to find. |

I'd recommend AKG for sure. They have never let me down and they have great sound quality. Under a $100 as well for DJ style ones.

| Sennheiser PX200s seem to be popular here, and are very affordable. Or upgrade to the PXC 150 and get active noise cancellation. I've been using the same pair of Sennheiser hd490s for ten years now. The padding is completely gone and they're still comfortable. |

Good suggestions. The thing I really like about the AKGs that I have is that there is just a single cable, which goes into one side (the left side). Much more convenient and tangle-free. |
