Sigh, sometimes things in this country are hard haha, even with a reasonable understanding of the language.

My laptops broke, i know whats wrong with it, some water got onto the screen and has dripped into the back causing the screen to break. There is a faint picture so its either a backlight or one of the cords/fuses or something...

Anyway, ive taken it to a few computer places, but they dont/wont fix laptops, and cant advise who does apart from the AS center. As it is a dell computer i can use the AS center in Seoul and courier there, but the korean ratings of dell by koreans that used the AS service, are that the AS is shite, and that its expensive

Searching naver doesnt help, as due to most the shops being small they dont advertise on there....so....its just take a walk and have some luck. The korean teachers dont see this as being strange...and my frustration is building.

Sooo, has anyone got a laptop fixed in Daegu?? Can they give me the phone number or name of the store so i can call??? Or decent directions.

Dell A/S gave my friend the run around when they charged him for a battery and never delivered it. I think he got his money back but only having a gaggle of people call and harass them for the 100,000 won. I'd say avoid it if you can. Copy the contents to a portable HD and treat yourself to an early Christmas gift. Take advantage of Cyber Monday or Black Friday sales back in the US. Have you tried the computer shops in the alley behind the old Miglore building in Jungangno?

Write it off.Some things are arreparable I'm afraid, this is one of them.

The computers completely fine, I still use it plugged to a monitor, it wasn't much-a cup got kicked over and the screen splattered butM by the time I realized it was too late.

Really appreciate the help, I'll chase up those suggestions. I would like to buy a new laptop but as I'll be home for head school soon a desktop is a better option. Hopefully I can get this sorted for less than 100000[/u]

Way back in the day--about a dozen years ago, I turned my computer on one morning and the keyboard was all screwed up. I called Gateway, they gave me instructions to return it and they sent a replacement that came in a couple days. No questions asked. Found out later that my niece had spilled orange juice on it.

If you're a smoker, good luck at the Apple Store. You just voided your warranty. The anti-smoker witch hunt continues...

Get a Korean speaking friend to call up a Computer Doctor. They are ubiquituous in Korea and will be able to fix your computer.......unless the monitor is really screwed and they can't get replacement parts for it (something Dell likes to do is have custom parts made for it's machines and not allow anybody else to purchase them....that way if your computer is fried you either have to pay them to fix it or buy a new one).
