I need legal advice. Does anyone know of a good English-speaking lawyer I can talk to? I'm not looking for free advice - I am willing to pay.

I know this question has been asked sporadically here, but I can't find a good answer. It is not a work-related matter - not labor board. Getting a Korean interpreter to speak to a Korean-speaking lawyer is out of the question. I tried listings on the embassy homepages - no good. Surely there must be Korean lawyers who speak English well. Surely foreigners here have dealt with some. Recommendations, please.

tried a few magazines (Groove, Seoul Travel and Culture) for lawyer listing, but couldnt find any

here's my advise ~

contact Groove Magazine,
here's a link to their website (they're also on Facebook)
http://groovekorea.com/index.htm

they should know an English speaking lawyer - or their lawyer might know an English speaking lawyer

I'm saying they know an English lawyer because a lot (all) of business have used (or using) lawyers

There was a guy who said he was a lawyer in these forums who did help expats. However, IIRC, he hated working with NETs because the ones that came to him were largely cheap idiots who habitually got themselves into trouble. Maybe you could search for him and plead your case.

You can try and contact Sean Hayes. He is located in Seoul, is an American married to a Korean. He can speak Korean as well and works with many other Korean lawyers. Really nice guy and I am sure he or his assistant can help you out.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies and PMs, folks. I'll get on to it soon.

What is a "NET" - New English Teacher? I'm not new, and I'm not in trouble - I am, however, a cheap idiot Very Happy

I know a few of the attorneys here:

Good, fair people. Although they largely practice IP law, if they can't help you I'm sure they would be willing to refer you to an English speaking attorney in whichever field you need advice. Talk to Sonnie or Joseph.
